PAUL, Joseph (Joe) Emile

July 27, 1925 – Fox Valley, SK
January 18, 2018 – Calgary, AB

Joseph Emile Paul of Calgary, AB, beloved husband of Peggy Paul, passed away on January 18th 2018 at the age of 92 years.

Joe was born in Fox Valley, SK on July 27th, 1925 and was the youngest of eleven children. He served in the RCAF for three and a half years during the Second World War, followed by some time as Assistant Municipal Secretary Treasurer. He worked for three years with Fred Mannix Construction and then thirty-three years plus with Mobil Oil Canada until his retirement in 1986. Joe ushered at St. Gerard’s and then Holy Spirit Catholic churches in Calgary for several decades. He was also a one-time member of the Elks Club and a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Joe and Peggy loved to travel, and they took many amazing trips together and saw much of the world. One of their favorite ways to travel was cruising, and they took the entire family on several wonderful vacations. They travelled south to Mesa, Arizona for the winter for seventeen years and really looked forward to spending the winter with the friends that they made there. Joe was an avid bridge and cribbage player most of his life. Joe, you played your last hand in life like you played every hand you were ever dealt – with grace, dignity, and gentleness that embodied the true meaning of the word ‘gentleman’. You will be greatly missed!

Besides his loving wife Peggy, Joe is survived by his son Joseph Randall Paul, of Kelowna, BC and daughter Robyn Michelle Paul, of Calgary, AB; as well as his grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Paul, of Kelowna, BC and Sheldon Garnett Paul, of Kelowna, BC; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joe was predeceased by both his parents and all his siblings.

  4. Dear Peggy and family.
My deepest sympathy on the passing of Joe. I worked with him for many of our 30 years at Mobil. I lost Aggie on May 1 /17 and know how grieved you must feel. I hope you will find comfort in remembering your many happy days, trips, etc. and the very fine person Joe was. He had many friends and I was one.
