Mary Pasternak beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the age of 91 years.
Mary was born in Calgary and graduated from Western Canada High School and Business College. In 1952 she married Michael Pasternak and over the next decade had four children, Sharron, Wendy, Joseph and Robert. Mary had three grandchildren Erin, Michael and Robert and one great-grandchild, Noah. Mary came from a musical family and as a youngster was a talented performer, singing and dancing on stage at theatres in Calgary. Mary was an accomplished pianist who continued to play piano well into her 80’s. Mary was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and was involved in many cultural activities throughout her life. She also participated in charitable work with the Royal Purple and Eagles organizations. Mary was an avid gardener and an exceptional cook. She enjoyed entertaining and socializing and celebrating special occasions. She also enjoyed travelling to many locations around the world. Mary was especially fond of her cousins, John and Jean Semkuley, dear friend Eileen Kulikoski, and granddaughter-in-law Jennifer. Mary had a special bond with son-in-law Don.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Michael (1986); daughter-in-law Marie (1999); son-in-law Arthur (2002); and son Robert (2017).
At Mary’s request there will be no service.
