OSWEILER, Georgette Marie

February 25, 1942 – Saskatoon, SK
March 14, 2019 – Calgary, AB

Georgette Marie Osweiler (nee Billo) born on February 25, 1942 in Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2019 in Calgary AB, at age 77. She was surrounded by love until the end and is now at peace with her Lord. Georgette was predeceased by her parents, Emile and Eva Billo, and sister, Diane Sheng. Georgette is survived by her three children, Maureen, Colette (Walter) and Perry (Assunta); four grandchildren, Keagen, Samuel, Ahnalee and Justine; and her three brothers, Dennis, Gerald and Robert.

Georgette was a caregiver by nature, offering help and compassion to friends, family and all who crossed her path. She began her long career as a registered nurse in 1970 initially working on various hospital wards before eventually moving to the then new nursing field of Occupational Health. She was generous with both time and money, volunteering for many charities and organizations that were dear to her heart, including the Alzheimer’s Society. She loved her careers and the many people she befriended along the way.

Georgette will be dearly missed by her many friends, whether new or life-long, including all her special cousins. Georgette always enjoyed attending reunions and was active in planning family, school and work reunions along with helping to keep family trees and family history books current. She was especially thrilled to be a grandma. She loved the moments she spent with her grandchildren and their special bonds were apparent to all as she proudly shared their accomplishments. Georgette instilled a strong foundation of values, including honesty, respect, social graces, compassion, kindness, helpfulness, generosity, ethics and love, in her children and grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Georgette enjoyed curling, ceramics, and travelling. She loved to sing and dance as much as she loved to play piano and organ. Her busy schedule always included time for others and her door was always open for coffee, tea or a nice glass of wine. Georgette touched many lives and her humour, compassion, strength and generosity will be dearly missed.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Parish Hall. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

I am so sorry to hear of Georgette’s passing and my heart extends prayers of comfort and peace to all of you. She was one of my mom’s closest friends (Roberta – Bobby – Calder) and was a great support to me when my mom passed. Whenever they were together there was always laughter and plotting for the next prank or ‘theme’ party, so I can only imagine what is in store for the angels!!!!!! She will forever live on in your hearts and in the lives she has touched and can never be forgotten!

  5. Wow—what can I say, that’s hasn’t already said! And, every word is true! She truly was the most incredible, person, I’ve ever met!
I was really touched, about the comment, that she installed values in her family! Well! She instilled those values in all of us—and did it with grace, and usually a little humor!
Will share one story! We had just graduated from nursing, and Georgette was working on 5th floor ( surgery) I was asked to come in and sub, one night, So, I phoned Georgette, to see what I should expect?? She said, “ nothing—after 10 pm, that is the quietist ward, ever! You better bring a book!”
Well, that night, we had two patients that pulled their Iv’s out, and another one that was running around the ward, with only his gown on!! And, all my Iv’s went dry!! It was bledlom!!
When Georgette heard about this, she just laughed her head off!! ( very funny Georgette) haha

Maureen, Collette, Perry, and families—you guys have lost a treasure, for sure! I’m truly sorry! But, when I think of her—a smile comes to me! She, was an amazing person! Hope when the tears dry up, you can get there too!
Condolences to her brothers, as well ! She talked them often, and it felt like she was very close to them!
