March 14, 2019 – Calgary, AB
Georgette Marie Osweiler (nee Billo) born on February 25, 1942 in Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2019 in Calgary AB, at age 77. She was surrounded by love until the end and is now at peace with her Lord. Georgette was predeceased by her parents, Emile and Eva Billo, and sister, Diane Sheng. Georgette is survived by her three children, Maureen, Colette (Walter) and Perry (Assunta); four grandchildren, Keagen, Samuel, Ahnalee and Justine; and her three brothers, Dennis, Gerald and Robert.
Georgette was a caregiver by nature, offering help and compassion to friends, family and all who crossed her path. She began her long career as a registered nurse in 1970 initially working on various hospital wards before eventually moving to the then new nursing field of Occupational Health. She was generous with both time and money, volunteering for many charities and organizations that were dear to her heart, including the Alzheimer’s Society. She loved her careers and the many people she befriended along the way.
Georgette will be dearly missed by her many friends, whether new or life-long, including all her special cousins. Georgette always enjoyed attending reunions and was active in planning family, school and work reunions along with helping to keep family trees and family history books current. She was especially thrilled to be a grandma. She loved the moments she spent with her grandchildren and their special bonds were apparent to all as she proudly shared their accomplishments. Georgette instilled a strong foundation of values, including honesty, respect, social graces, compassion, kindness, helpfulness, generosity, ethics and love, in her children and grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Georgette enjoyed curling, ceramics, and travelling. She loved to sing and dance as much as she loved to play piano and organ. Her busy schedule always included time for others and her door was always open for coffee, tea or a nice glass of wine. Georgette touched many lives and her humour, compassion, strength and generosity will be dearly missed.
