OSHUST, Mike Eugene

May 27, 1944 – Drumheller, Alberta
November 3, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Mike Oshust beloved husband of Anna of Calgary, AB passed away on November 3, 2018 at the age of 74 years.

Mike was born in Drumheller, Alberta and was raised in Nacmine, Alberta with his mother Mary and father Paul. When Mike graduated, he left Nacmine for Calgary where he attended business school and promptly started working at Canada Packers. While working at Canada Packers he met Anna, the love of his life. Mike and Anna were soon married September 20, 1969 and continued to live in Calgary to raise their family. Mike retired from Canada Packer’s (Maple Leaf Foods) and started a second career with Hardy Sales where he continued to work in the food industry. This was a great fit and where he had his most enjoyment. Mike went on to work for another fifteen years before he decided to retire at the age of 71. From there Anna and Mike traveled and spent time with his family.

Mike was very proud of his family and happiest spending time with them. Mike was actively involved in all his sons’ lives, he loved working on projects with them whether his help was needed or not. Mike enjoyed his career as a salesman and even after retirement you could find him checking meat counters in all the grocery stores. Mike loved all his friends and having his annual garage sales. He enjoyed getting out and playing a round of golf, curling, watching his grandchildren play hockey and ringette or just hanging out with the kids. Mike was a family man and always treated his friends like family, often bringing them home for Anna to cook them a meal. Everyone would have a great time and he invited everyone to come back again.

Mike will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Mike is survived by his wife Anna; his sons Jeff, (Olivia and Michael), Jason (Holly and Maclean), Chris (Julia) and Brother Joe Oshust.

He was predeceased by his mother Mary and father Paul Oshust, Daughter-in-law Angel Oshust, sister Gene Swydnycky.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E., Calgary, AB) on November 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at Coast Plaza Hotel (1316 33 St NE, Calgary, AB T2A 6B6). Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Mike Oshust, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE N.E., Calgary, AB, T2A 3V9, Telephone: 403- 248-8585.
