Angel Oshust (nee Smith) of Calgary passed away on Sept 6, 2018 at the age of 46 after a courageous but brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Angel and Jeff met while attending University of Texas, and married in 1999 in Tyler, Texas. They then moved to Calgary, Canada to begin their careers and start a family. Angel loved all of her family and dedicated her life to her husband and children, Olivia and Michael.
Survived by husband Jeff, children Olivia and Michael, father John (Jill) Smith, mother PJ (Richard) Avery and Barbara Smith, sister Ashley (Kevin, Kinsy and Cason) Whitman, brother RJ Avery and family. In laws Mike and Anna Oshust, Jason (Holly and Maclean) Oshust, Chris (Julie) Oshust.

Angel was a devoted ringette and hockey mom and spent many hours cheering Olivia and Michael on at the rink. She had a wonderful career as a case manager at Worker’s Compensation Board and was able to balance her career as well as support her two children in all their extra curricular activities. Other than spending time with her family, she had many passions in her life from game nights, Bunko nights, sampling wine with friends, camping and travelling.

Angel’s (Wonder Woman) adventurous spirit, infectious smile, sense of humour and love of life will be greatly missed by her many friends.

Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive S.E., Calgary AB [1]) on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Celebration of Life to follow at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino from 1-5pm. Condolence from Elena Ramona Toderas on September 27th, 2018 8:48 AM

Even though I never met her, I know some of her friends(Lory, Janet, Brandy) and followed on Facebook, this really affected me and I cried when I saw the treatment in Vienna didn’t work. This is so sad and makes no sense, no one can understand why these things happen, especially to such good people, and people that have families that are left behind. My only explanation is that God liked her so much, that He wanted her up there, earlier!!! I know in my heart she is in heaven and her suffering is over. I pray that her family will have the strength to continue and find a way to be comforted. I pray for her children, husband, and parents&siblings. I also pray for her dear friends. When something like this happens, makes you realize how precious are the moments we have with each other here. But where we go after, is so beautiful that none of us can even imagine. Condolences to the family and friends. Elena Ramona Toderas.

Condolence from Nolan Elkins on October 1st, 2018 11:56 AM

My memories of Angel were when she was a child and would visit her mom, PJ, in Forney, Tx. She was always full of energy and always had a smile. I will always remember her in that sense and will treasure it always.

God has a plan for us all and seems that he wanted Angel to share her smile with other “angels” in heaven.

May she rest in peace and prayers are with her family.

Condolence from Susan Cruess on October 6th, 2018 2:29 AM

Jeff, Olivia and Michael: I’m sorry I can’t be there to celebrate Angel’s life with you today but I am in Europe. I’m thinking of you and sending strength from miles away. Angel was an amazing woman who made a positive impact on everyone she met. She played a key role in rebuilding the Junior League of Calgary when she served on the Board in 2008-2010. Her passion and enthusiasm inspired current members and encouraged new members to join us as we focused on growing the membership and making an impact. Angel’s smiling face, optimism, professionalism, and bubbling personality would light up the room. She will be missed by so many people but hopefully her spark will stay with us all and continue to inspire us to bring joy to others as we remember her.
