  3. I first met Gwladys in the 1980’s when I moved next door to the Orr’s vacation home on beautiful Shuswap Lake. It was so exciting when each Spring arrived as I eagerly awaited the opening up of “the cottage”! Gwladys was a fountain of knowledge about the local wildflowers and birds. She was an avid gardener who knew the scientific name for each species! We visited back and forth daily and shared many fun times together throughout the years. I used to admire how effortlessly Gwladys entertained and prepared delicious meals for her family and guests, in spite of often trying new recipes. She never appeared flustered or in a flap! It was always a sad day in the Fall when the waterline was pulled and the shutters put up, for this meant “the cottage” was closing up for another season. I shed many a tear as I watched the car pull out of the driveway, Calgary bound! Gwladys was a super, caring friend. She had an inquiring mind, eager to hear new ideas and learn new things. I will miss her positive outlook on life, no matter the challenges and there were many! She faced them all with strength and courage. God bless you, dear Gwladys, and may you Rest In Peace at last.

  4. I regret that I will be unable to attend Gwladys’ memorial service but wish to pay tribute to a dear lady with whom I walked many a pleasurable mile as a Tuesday Hiker. Gwladys could always name the wildflower, or identify the peak in question. Knowledgeable and intelligent, calm, caring and kind, tested by many challenges but never overcome, Gwladys was someone I looked up to, learned from and do miss in my life. God bless and keep her in peace.
