ODAGAKI, Shinji Earl

December 16, 1930 – Port Alberni, British Columbia
March 5, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Shinji Earl Odagaki beloved husband of Sekiko Odagaki (nee Ohara) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the age of 88 years.

Shinji attended SAIT in Calgary and went on to work at the City of Calgary, Streets Division for forty years, retiring in 1993. He loved to go fishing, camping, and especially playing with his grandchildren. He was also an avid volunteer at the Calgary Japanese Language School and the Calgary Buddhist Temple.

Besides his loving wife, Sekiko, Shinji is survived by two sons; Ronald (Yayoi), and Brian (Ai); grandchildren, Mayu, Reiya, Justin, Ashton; sister, Yoshimi; and nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and their families.

Shinji was predeceased by his brother, Torao “Bunk”; sister, Miyoko; and nephew Craig.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North Calgary, AB) on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carewest George Boyack in Calgary for their kindness and support.
