  2. I met Jerry many years ago, Jerry gave me my first job in the oil industry, at that time he was a driller for CanTex Drilling, and 28 years later I’m still going strong, I will always be grateful for the way Jerry took me under his wing in the early years and all the things he showed me to help me get my start in the industry.
Although we drifted apart and re connected several times over the years, I’m grateful to have had recent contact with him prior to his unexpected death.
He was always a good friend and will be missed.

    Jon Ball

  6. To say that I’m heartbroken about your passing doesn’t truly cover the depth of my feelings. I’m honored that I was able to spend so much time with you in the days/weeks before your passing, including your last golf game.

I will miss your devotion to friends, your generosity, the way you lite up and laughed when Heidi greeted you and how you encouraged her to keep licking your face, our heated debates, our conversations about the next stage of our lives, how much a sunset/sunrise would move you, your intelligence, your kind heart, your humor, how you didn’t care about others opinions of you as you were secure in who you were and your convictions, your ability to never sweat the small things and your smile.

You said that this was going to be a summer to remember and it certainly was. What a ride!!

I will remember you in every swing of the golf club, every bite of black licorice and lemon squares from Purple Perk, every stupid Splenda package I see, every taste of a Belvedere martini with pickled onions but most of all the eating a hearty bowl of soup!!

Thank you for coming into my life and I treasure every memory that we made. You will be and are missed beyond words!!!!

Till we meet again…rest in peace my love!!

  7. Brian Johnston :

Shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Jerry O’brien and offer my sympathy to those closest to him. Over the 15 years since I met Jerry we had many successful adventures. A fair number were golf games in various locales, but the vast majority were petroleum industry activities where Jerry’s savvy drilling management skills handled many a daunting challenge. The global oil patch has lost a very valuable contributor. Rest in peace good buddy.

  8. Rev. Doug Moffat :

An unlikely combination eh – a Lutheran pastor and Jerry O’Brien! We met when I bought some LeCreuset from Jerry, while a love of golf and an interest in politics had us meeting regularly at Star Bucks for a coffee. We had some interesting conversations, radically divergent views and fun (he razed me about my Bullet Proof butter coffee and I gave him hell about his favorite honey bread and ‘wheat belly’). We regretfully lost track after I moved from Alberta, so I am saddened that he is gone. Thank you Catherine for informing me of his death. He holds special memories for me. May God be merciful to all of us.
