June 25, 1932 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
April 3, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Harry beloved husband of Betty-Anne, of Calgary, Alberta passed away on April 3, 2018 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by family and having been able to talk with all of his children and grandchildren in his last few days.

Harry was born and raised in Winnipeg, married Betty-Anne in 1950, they were meant to be together as they shared the same year, month, and day of birth, even born in the same hospital. Mom is actually eight hours older than Dad, and we teased him that he had married an older woman. They met at the young age of 16 and have been inseparable ever since.

He worked as an aircraft sheet metal worker in Winnipeg and returned to that industry in Calgary, after a successful career with A&W.

Harry loved his wife and family, and was proud of their accomplishments. He had a wicked sense of humour and loved to tease. An intelligent and well-read gentleman, you did not want to play against him in trivial pursuit.

Besides his loving wife Betty-Anne of almost 68 years, Harry is survived by his children, Linda, George (Dianne), Barb (David) and Jo-Ann (Chris); daughter in law Pat; brother George; grandchildren, Terry, Steven, Jill, Laura, Geremy, Alison, Ashley, and Emily; also twelve great-grand children.

Harry was predeceased by his son Don in 2015, his parents, five sisters and one brother.

The family would like to thank the many health care professionals who provided care for Harry over the years. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Harry Newbury, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
