NEGENMAN, Joseph

July 18, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

With great sadness, Joseph (Joe) Negenman of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the age of 83 years.

Joe and his family immigrated from the Netherlands to Canada in 1953. He graduated from SAIT with a certificate in Automotive Mechanics. Joe and his brother Tom, owned and operated Kingsland Esso for many years. Joe loved music and played the bass guitar in the band, Rythamairs for several years. He was a devoted family man. He would make time for family and extended family to snow ski, vacation, camp, and go boating. One of his greatest attributes was his willingness to help people in any way possible; there was no task to big or too small.

Joe married Jean (nee Reed) in July 1961 and they had three children, Jim (Deborah) Negenman, Lynn (Ivan) Houde, Nancy (Greg) Dinney. Joe had nine grandchildren, Jeffery, Ryan, Michilla, Cody, Rachelle, Brayden, Christopher, Kassi, and Rene; and seven great-grandchildren. Joe also leaves behind his siblings Tom (Rita) Negenman, Kees (Judi) Negenman, Bill (Terry) Negenman, Alyse (Russ) Stensland, and Johanna (Dave) Christie, all of Calgary. He will be joining his wife, Jean predeceased him in 1986, his father Wypke, mother Marie, and sister Mary.

    Uncle Joe was a part of our family growing up, sharing a business with my dad. I remember his quick smile and single mindedness when working.   3. my name is Yvonne Carter and Uncle Joe was my uncle. I worked with him at the Esso gas station on 69th Avenue and elbow Drive in Kingsland with my dad he was a very hard worker a Stern man and had respect for doing great work I always remember he loved like 8 scoops of sugar in his coffee that always blew me away we would laugh at him I also remember him with his wife Judy going through cancer he loved her very much and was in a lot of pain when he she died. I must say I truly loved him and had respect for him I pray his celebration of life will be special for his family and bonding them in love.
