Condolences for the family of “NASHCHUK, Douglas (Doug) Anthony”

Condolence from Hal Kupchak on May 11th, 2019 7:48 PM

I just heard about Doug’s passing.

My thoughts are with Carmen & Lana and especially with Laurie who, in addition to being a great Mom, is a warm and wonderful person. She always supported Doug through the highs and lows during his life.

Condolence from Lidia Alton on May 11th, 2019 11:59 PM

Doug was a good friend and a good sport. In spite of his many health challenges, he dreamed of working again, of owning his own bicycle rental and repair business, of regaining his independence. I admired him for never giving up. He showed great courage and strength of character. He always spoke lovingly of his family and was especially proud of his daughters, Carmen and Lana. He missed his late sister, Maureen, very much.

Doug enjoyed sitting outdoors in the summer, under the colorful hanging plants and amid the beautiful garden spaces created by the gardener at The Bethany. He took great interest in the garden, liked to converse at length about current affairs and always had a political opinion to contribute to the conversation. Doug had always loved music and his favorite tv program was retro rock videos from the 70’s and 80’s!

I will certainly miss my visits with Doug and walking with him around his neighborhood. Doug remained as active as possible, given his state of health. He had hopes, he had dreams and he was a kind and generous person.

My sincere condolences to the Nashchuk family. May God bless Doug and may God comfort you with memories of his many accomplishments and happier days.

With kind wishes,

Many years ago I was driving on the Kananaskis Trail, enjoying the quiet beauty when all of a sudden some crazy guy on a motorcycle zoomed by me like a bat out of hell. Guess who it was?
Doug, ride your bike up there my dear friend. I shall miss seeing you on my visits to Calgary.
Sending my love and support to Carmen, Lana and to Laurie. May good memories comfort you.
Love Katie

Condolence from Linda Wyse ( sister) on May 15th, 2019 1:30 AM

Thinking of my brother every minute. Feeling bad for not spending enough time with him. He was my surrogate father when my dad died and my friend as I got older. He walked me down the aisle when I got married and we even built houses side by side. We went through our ups and downs over the years but I always had great love for him and I felt it from him in return in his own quiet way. He was very worried about me when my sister Moe passed because he knew Moe and I were best friends. I had wonderful times with his family I couldnt get enough of those sweet little girls watching them walk to my house across the field with their body guard Kayla their beautiful dog. I have many fond memories of playing on the lake when they lived in chestemere. I miss you my brother my deepest regret was that I didnt spend enough time with you before you left this world I just hope you knew it was only because I’ve been dealing with some serious health issues in and out of the hospital trying to get better then get sick again this has gone on for almost 3 years now. I no Moe or Dad or many of other people that we have lost were there to greet you. You fought your hardest it’s time to rest now in a better place. I will see you and Moe again and cant wait for that day. Please no how much I really did love you even though I didnt spend much time with you I hope you understand why. You were never out of my thoughts. I love you dear brother until we see each other again!!!

Laurie and girls, I am so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. After moving back to Manitoba over 12 years ago now we lost touch and I had no idea that he had health concerns. You and Doug were always two of my favourite buds back in the day. May Doug rest in peace and may God’s peace be with you.

Condolence from Sher and Brad Follett on May 16th, 2019 7:31 PM

So many great memories and fun times. One time it was Brad’s birthday and Doug asked for Brad to help build….Doug did such a great job keeping Brad busy while Laurie came and we secretly had a party waiting for the boys to come home for dinner. Doug was always up to help and friendly. We will miss such a special friend and his smile. Lana, Carmen and Laurie we send hugs and love your way….you are amazing, Doug said that and we think you are also…..love to you all.
