NAIMISH, Victor Murray

April 5, 1926 – Regina, Saskatchewan

September 1, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Victor passed away peacefully exactly one month after his wife, Sharon on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the age of 92 years.

Victor led a full and productive life. He was the seventh of ten children, born to Romanian immigrants. He grew up on the East side of Regina, SK, a veritable united nations. He made friends with people who originated from all over the world and this likely contributed to his sense of justice. He excelled at school and pursued a career in law, via entering the military to pay for his schooling. He had twelve years of service in the military and later embarked on his own private law practice. He was a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Law Class 1948. His first job was with the Standard Oil Company of Ohio (SOHIO). He practiced in the area of Oil & Gas Law at a time when a business deal was completed with a handshake. Victor had an incredible strength of character, work ethic and discipline. His joke telling and storytelling are legend amongst his family and friends. A true leader, he volunteered in the community as a soccer coach for many years. His daughters, Mary and Ann feel such gratitude for having a father with such strong ideals and leadership. He was a pillar of society, contributing professionally and personally to so many people.

He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Mary Naimish of San Diego, Ann Naimish (Ron Garneau) of Calgary; his grandchildren, David Ambagtsheer and Michael Ambagtsheer of San Diego and Scott Garneau and Alana Garneau of Calgary as well as numerous friends and extended family. He is also survived by his sister, Evelyn McCann of Michigan.

A celebration of both Victor and Sharon’s well-lived lives will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Victor Murray a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

  3. Marilyn Glerum :

I am sorry to hear Victor passed away one month after Sharon. I feel in my heart that he is now in a happier place with Sharon and that I had the pleasure of his company over the years. Loved Vic’s jokes. I would ask him for his latest joke only to get that look from Sharon (how many times have I heard this?). Lately, I had him putting one ice cube in his wine which brought some humour. May your memories give you strength and peace.

  6. It was with shock and surprise that Vic’s passing was seen in the Calgary Herald. The reaction shouldn’t have been either, considering how long we have known each other.

Vic looked after my corporate legal affairs for many years prior to his retirement. The lunches, before and after that were always most enjoyable. I regret there weren’t more of them.

I will miss Vic’s presence here, but look forward to a reunion. There is a lot of reminiscing / visiting / discussion left to do.

Please also accept my condolences for the passing of Sharon, which I wasn’t aware of until now.

    Best Regards to all.

    Gary Litschke

    Mary, Ann (and Family);

I was sorry to learn of the passing of both of your parents. I unfortunately did not know your Mum, Sharon; but through a mutual friend, Grey Austin, I spent some very pleasant times in Vic’s company (often over a hearty, jovial lunch with the two of them).

Your Dad was a true gentleman; gracious, exceptionally good humored and so very generous with both his personal and professional advice.

Please accept my condolences; and may your fond memories bring all of you comfort, strength and lasting peace.

  9. My sincere condolences to Ann, Mary and families in memory of my very good friends Sharon and Vic. Sharon and I were at university together and had kept in touch, more so in recent years. I shall miss her phone calls in catching up on her news and sharing mine. Also seeing her on her occasional visits to Winnipeg.
