NAGY, Eve (nee Pastuszenko)

August 30, 1922 – Bifrost, Manitoba
March 1, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

With overwhelming appreciation for a long life well lived, filled with countless family and friend interactions, we announce the passing of Eve Nagy (nee Pastuszenko) on March 1, 2019, at the age of 96.
Eve was born in Bifrost, Manitoba on August 30, 1922 into a large Ukrainian-Polish family. She was to experience and actively participate in a life filled with significance and adventure. Eve held a wide variety of jobs including working as a WWII aircraft refueler for the Canadian Air Force as well as working for the Hudson’s Bay Company in Yellowknife, NWT. She met the love of her life, Emil Emericus Nagy in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and they married in 1956. They went on to live in numerous cities throughout Western Canada before settling in Calgary. Eve maintained a strong and determined will to be independent to the end of her time. She resided the last seventeen years at Shalem Court in Calgary, self-contained and still very much her own person.
She is survived by her daughter Suzanne (Neil) Falkeid; son E. J. (Joe) Nagy (Glenna Blackbourn); granddaughter Brooke (Ryan) Bachmeier; and her great-granddaughter Bryn. She is also survived by her sister Olga Gerard; brother, Ray Pastuszenko; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout Western Canada.
Eve was predeceased by her husband Emil Nagy; two brothers, Victor Pastuszenko and John Patts; and two sisters, Anne Geswen and Marty Shore.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Shalem Haven (3008 51 Street S.W. in the third floor activity room)

I talked her to on her birthday and had a very lovely visit with her one the phone. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.
