MULLOY, Robert Stuart “Bob”

July 10, 1947 – Calgary, Alberta
June 3, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Robert Mulloy, beloved husband of Marie Mulloy of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the age of 70 years. After fighting for two weeks, Bob’s heart was too damaged to sustain him. He passed away peacefully on his own terms with his family by his side.

Bob was a certified Financial Planner. He worked in the area of securities from 1973 until 2015 when he retired. In his earlier years, he played the drums, and for many years, served as a member of the Air Corps. He loved everything Stampede and was a volunteer for 10 years in the big draft horse town. In addition to enjoying watching the Blue Jays, the Flames, and all Football, and listening to the political discussion on QR77, he was very engaged with his children and their activities – acting as his son, Chad’s, coach for baseball and the hockey timekeeper; and making every dance performance and celebration of achievements of his daughter, Charisse (his tiny dancer). Bob loved to travel to hot destinations. He lived for his family and was an exceptional father and family man. He was devoted to his wife and the love of his life of 45 years, Marie. Bob’s pride and joys were his grandchildren, with whom he spent as much time as possible. Bob’s life summed up in three words: Outstanding. Honest. Loving.

Bob will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Bob is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Charisse Mulloy, son and daughter-in-law Chad and Melissa Mulloy; grandchildren, Harper, Griffin, and wee Emmett Mulloy; Cara and Mark’s children, Sarah and Connor Hoffinger; step-dad George (Shirley) Mulloy; brothers, Brian (Keri), Allan (Holly), Roger (Tracey), William (Lori); sisters, Janette and Judy Mulloy; sister-in-law Cara-Lynn Stelmack (Mark Hoffinger); brother-in-law John Stelmack (Celine Arseneault); nephews, Adam and Peter Stelmack; as well as many friends made throughout his life in Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Calgary. He was predeceased by his mother Irene Mulloy (nee Steele) and his father James Honey.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY Crowfoot (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

The family would like to thank the Foothills Medical Centre Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit 94, Drs. Kent, Lam, and Weichter, and all the nurses who provided excellent care and compassion to Bob.

  6. Mark Hoffinger :

Bob was simply a great, great guy. He was welcoming, warm, kind and always had a groan inducing one-liner joke ready for every occasion. My family will always fondly remember him sitting at the head of the table for nearly every extended family dinner and his usual very vocal insistence that everyone be fully present and quiet just for that moment, while he said grace.

My personal fondest memories of Bob include our many talks about business, politics, investment and of course, stocks while we hung out on his back deck, where he could usually be found hovering over a sizzling, smoking BBQ with his cold can of Coke in hand.

I also particularly remember enjoying drinks and just shooting the breeze and having some laughs with Bob at a little bar near the beach in Maui one family vacation a number of years ago, when Marie, Cara and Sarah decided to go off shopping one afternoon.

    Safe journey, Bob

Marie and family. Our deepest sympathy for all of you. Bob was a great guy and had a good sense of humour— his malaryisms (one liners , or sayings ) on a subject made us all groan and laugh. He always brought a bread loaf of sandwich’s to work for lunch and was willing to share them if someone was hungry.
He liked to laugh and made us laugh.
Our prayers are with all of you and our thoughts with Bob
    God Bless the Mulloy family,
    Brian and Laura Jones

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family Marie. Stampede breakfast, just whisper it and Bob was pulling out last year’s lists. Tireless, proud and smiling and a job well done. And the homemade puns or Mallorisms as we called them. We all groaned, but couldn’t wait for the next one. You will be missed.

  20. Dr. Richard Bickley :

    Hi Marie,

I was very sorry to read of Bob having died. About a dozen years ago, you and I briefly met in Kensington on a very mild January late afternoon, when Bob suffered a cardiac arrest. You arrived to meet up with him as the paramedics were about to take him to the Foothills. He incredibly survived and even made the TV news. It was terrific to meet up with him several weeks afterwards as he had recovered remarkably well. Interestingly, one of the young women who had performed CPR on Bob attributed that experience to her deciding to go into nursing.

My condolences to you and your family.
