MORGAN, Doreen Ann

August 5, 1931 – June 14, 2018

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Doreen Ann Morgan (nee Merriman) who passed away peacefully Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the age of 86.

Doreen was born in Calgary, AB at the Holy Cross Hospital and attended St. Mary’s Girls School and married Luke (Jay) Morgan at St. Mary’s Cathedral in 1953. They went on to raise a family in Calgary and lived in Kingsland for over sixty years. Mom instilled the love of animals in all three children that included five dogs, two cats, pigeons, and any stray animal that would appear at our front doorstep. Mom worked in the Lingerie Department of Woodward’s, Bloomers and Cats Pajamas. Mom and Dad in their retirement loved nothing more than to spend time in their home with their children and grandchildren.

Mom faced life’s challenges with strength, grace and profound Faith, always with her beautiful smile. She lived every day with unselfishness, kindness, forgiveness, and understanding.

Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Luke and Lisa Morgan and their children, Stephen Morgan (Zsuzanna Dancso) and great-grandson Oliver; Christopher Morgan (Anna Sementchouk), Marcia Szczerba (Cory) and great-granddaughter Ellis, Craig Gaskell, Anne and Tom Donaldson and their children, Michael, Daniel and Laura, and Shona (Bruce) Morgan and their children Ty and Demi. Doreen was blessed with a wonderful family, her parents John and Molly Merriman, her sisters, Helen (John) MacDonald and Margaret (Len) Thorne and her brother Jack (June) Merriman. Mom cherished the relationships she had with her nieces and nephews – oh how Auntie Doreen “The Fun Aunt” loved you all.

Doreen was predeceased by her husband Luke (Jay) Morgan in 2009, son Robert (Bruce) Morgan in 2000 and granddaughter Ashley Marie Donaldson in 1986.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church hall. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
