MOONEY, Jean Elizabeth (nee Newman)

January 21, 1932 – Airdrie, Alberta
January 24, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Jean was called to heaven peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the age of 87 years.

Jean was born in Airdrie, AB, to Danish immigrants Harold and Agnes Newman. She attended Central Memorial High School and Holy Cross Nursing School. She spent many years lovingly raising her children and grandchildren. Jean then worked as a nurse at the General Hospital. She was a long time member of the CWL. She loved horses and nature. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family.

Jean is survived by her five children, Guy (Monica), Jim (Ann), Michael, Tim and Monica (Brad); six grandchildren, David, Jessica, Heather, Matthew, Bailey, Brayden; two great-grandchildren, Arya and Maverick. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother Eric and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Frank Mooney.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
