Reata Anne Mitchell, beloved wife of the late Howard Verner Mitchell of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the age of 93 years.
Reata was born in Grainger, AB and lived in and around Calgary for the rest of her life. She was very young at heart and stayed extremely active into her 90s, particularly enjoying walking and golf. Reata spent numerous summers at Priest Lake, Idaho and winters in Arizona. She was passionate about creating gifts for others: sewing for her grandchildren (clothes, beach towels, and bathing suits), quilts for the newest members of the family, and birthstone Ming trees for family and friends. She was also an avid reader who loved word puzzles and crosswords. Reata loved helping people and volunteered with the CNIB and the Lion’s Club for many years.
Reata is survived by her three children Judy Beck (Robert), Linda Mitchell, and John Mitchell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Stitt and Jessie Brown. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard, daughter Caroline, brother John (Jack) McKay, sister Elsie Brinker, and granddaughter Joanne Raj Palmer.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com
