October 9, 1937 – Nasewitt, East Prussia
November 17, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erwin Meiritz, aged 81 years, on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Rockyview General Hospital. He leaves behind his wife Frieda of 58 years; daughters, Petra (Dale) and Sabine (Theo); granddaughters, Nikki (Ben) and Cailea (Matt); and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie. Erwin is also survived by sister, Annemarie Krahmer (Heilbronn, Germany), brothers, Fritz Meiritz (Calgary, AB) and Hans-Joachim Manthey (Salzwedel, Germany); and by a loving extended family across Germany.
Erwin immigrated to Canada in 1956 and worked in construction for most of his life in Calgary, primarily with Tower Construction and Janz Construction. In 1976, he established Ertz Contractors, which completed many projects throughout Calgary. With a dedicated work ethic, Erwin maintained an unwavering priority to support and provide a rewarding life for his family. A committed member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Calgary, he also enjoyed a variety of pursuits, notably bowling, alpine skiing, travelling, and spectating F1 auto racing and soccer. We celebrate a life well-lived, and a man who was a disciplined role model. He will be missed as a kind and loving Husband, Father, Brother, Opa and Friend.
Our family wishes to thank all staff of Unit 59 at the Rockyview General Hospital for their committed care, kindness and compassion to Erwin.

Sincere condolences to to Pedra and family. Erwin will be remembered very fondly.
Godspeed, Erwin.
To my dear friend Erwin we miss you dearly, however your kindness and love of life will transcend through eternity. It will never be the same in so many ways but will be the same in so many others. I will have to find a new safety coordinator that can laugh and kibitz like you did during our meetings. Frieda, Petra and Sabine you and my family are so fortunate in so many ways.
Chrissy
Nikki, so sorry for the loss of your Opa, I know how much you loved him through your stories and sharing of memories of him. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time,
Patty
