August 18, 1961 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
July 11, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Colin McNish, beloved husband of Theresa passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the age of 56 years.

Colin was born August 18, 1961 in Halifax, NS. As a young man he was an Eagle Scout Leader and was in the Navel Reserves in Halifax, NS. He attended Confederation College and earned his degree in Aircraft Manufacturing and Design. He then worked at IMP Aerospace in Halifax, NS for a short time, but he was not a desk man. He was a true entrepreneur. He owned and operated many businesses: drywall, auto body, mobile auto diagnostic, auto parts and bought, sold and serviced used vehicles/heavy equipment/boats. He also had an eye for buying and selling real estate. He met Theresa in 1989 and they were married in 1999. During this period of time they built up an automotive sales and service business as well as building a beautiful house on Grand Lake, NS. They sold their businesses and home in NS to move west in 2005 to be closer to family.

Colin and Theresa travelled throughout the USA, enjoyed several cruises, motorcycle and scuba diving trips, and many other adventures together. He loved the water and enjoyed boats, both motor and sailing as well as his Porsches, Harleys and piloting his Piper Cherokee aircraft. They were entrepreneurs in many businesses together and to say he was a hard worker is an understatement. Colin had an extraordinary ability to figure out and fix anything mechanical or electrical, you name it he could do it. He also was able to build and construct anything and if he didn’t know how to do something, he would research it, figure it out and plan the project. If you needed help with anything, he was always there to lend a hand. Colin earned his pilots licence and loved to fly their airplane and was helping Theresa earn her pilots licence. He had bought an RV6 aerobatic airplane and was in the process of rebuilding it at his hanger in Nevada. Over the past few years, he enjoyed his winters in Boulder City, NV and his summers working on restoring their WWII RCAF airplane hangar in Vulcan, AB.

Colin is survived by Theresa, his loving wife and partner in everything. His father Robert McNish, sisters Cathy and Jennifer, father-in-law Mervin and the in-laws of the Graham Family.
He is predeceased by his mother Eleanore McNish, mother-in-law Cecilia Graham, sister-in-law Linda Graham and brother-in-law Ken Funk.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W., Calgary, AB [1]), on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:30am a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Condolence from Dean on September 18th, 2018 11:38 PM

I loved this guy, like as if he were my older brother. He was smart, inspiring and everything I admire in a person! Unfortunately, we had a falling out, about four years ago. I wish it had never happened, as we never saw each other again.. Life is short, and too short for him!! I cant believe he is gone! I am so sorry, Theresa!
