My almost 40 year connection to Jim is through the worlds of Optimists and their Foundation. I support strongly comments like these: “Jim was a lovely, caring and generous man. He will be missed.” We got to know him better as we drove to places like Prince Albert, SK and Billings, MT and everywhere between. His railway stories and knowledge of every side-track were interspersed with memories of flight school and meeting Barb. Of course there were great discussions of politics, investing strategy and Ford trucks. He leaves a large hole in our world.

Our condolences to Jim’s Family. We will miss you Jim. We were members together in the Calgary Optimist Club from the time he transferred to that club til I left Calgary in 1977, I have always remembered the Recreational Vehicles trips we took together and the time when my trailer hitch broke and Jim came and fixed it so that we could go trailering together again. Rest in Peace my Optimist Friend.

My thoughts are with you Heather & family. Your father & Mum have left a solid stamp on my heart. I’ve only known them since 1999; however, those 20 years were joyous. I’m sad to see Jim pass but he is now with his Barb. Jim was devoted to Optimist Clubs in Calgary & in Arizona. Rest In Peace, Jim, your generosity & joy of life is a beautiful legacy.

We have many fond memories over the 44 years that we have known Jim, Barb and their family.

    Jim.
    You will be sadly missed.
