  14. Susan and Family, John and I were shocked and sorry to learn of Mike’s passing. Seems not very long ago that we were all together in Aberdeen Scotland enjoying the life of ex-pats. We recall many happy times there, gathering together with our fellow Canadians and their families. How very difficult it is to lose someone so young. Our hearts ache for you and the boys. We are away at a family wedding in BC this weekend, so are unable to attend the funeral. We send our sincere condolences,
    John & Susan Duckett

We are in Vancouver attending my daughter’s wedding this weekend and just learned about Michael’s recent death. I was quite shocked to hear about his early passing and I will miss him. He was a thoughtful man but also decisive and always looking for a way to make positive things happen. I enjoyed working with him and looked forward to his comments and analysis as I knew they would contain valuable insight into the problems at hand. He was also fun to have lunch with and had a grand store of amusing stories to share. I wish he had more time

I am very sorry that I can not attend the funeral but please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences about your loss
    Sincerely yours

    Bruce Williams

  17. Barry Bernhardt

Hi Susan, Barry Bernhardt here. I’m very sorry for your loss. Mike and I were friends during his time in Foremost. We started to write a book together and it was sort of a James Bond type story. The main character’s name was Peter Love. We’d sneak into the bank offices and plunk away on the typewriters. We didn’t get very far on the project but it was fun and it’s one of my fond memories of Mike. I stayed in touch with Mike during his time at Talisman and my time as a lawyer in Calgary.

    Dear Susan
Thank you so much for sending through the details For Mike’s service and so sad not to be able to travel to Calgary to be there.
Mike made life so special and our memories of being together in Aberdeen and Calgary will always be cherished.
You, more than anyone, know what an unbelievably special man he is – and in thinking about him we decided he’s the most caring human being we’ve ever known. We love him for that, and are blessed to have known him and to have been just a little bit in your lives. Thank you Susan for allowing us in – it’s one of the greatest privileges we can ever think of.
We said a prayer for Mike and he will always be in our memories, and we can only ever regret that he was taken far too soon. We wish you peace at this so difficult time.
    With our love
    Paul and Karen

    Dear Susan and family,
Mike was a very good friend in High School. One of his many positive character traits that made him Mike McDonald, was that he was non-judgmental. Everyone deserved a fair shot in his eyes. But he was no pushover and you knew he would defend his turf and beliefs, and I cannot recall anyone ever testing him.
He had true star power in High School; a great athlete, good looking, was cool and he was a lead guitar player in the only rock band in Foremost.
The world is a better place because Mike was part of it and we are all better people because we knew him.
Hang on Sloopy! The Mike McDonald Trio played this song every time in their 4-song sets.
We are so sorry for your loss and are thinking of you at this sad time.
