It is with heartfelt loss that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Cecile Many Guns of Siksika Nation, on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the age of 88 years old.

Our beautiful Cecile (Sahkapaskahkii) was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, sister-in-law and friend. She is survived by her children: Fran (Agar) Wolf Leg, Scotty (Wanda) Many Guns, Rosaria (Allan) Wolf Leg, Dean (Rowena) Many Guns, Arlene Many Guns, Aaron (Dale) Many Guns, George (Colette) Many Guns, Kelly (Ron) Many Guns, Jerome Medicine Traveller. Also survived by her sister, Cecilia Many Heads, and her brother, Albert Many Bears; Sister-in-laws, Yvonne (Jerry) Black Horse, Evelyn Many Guns and Marjorie (John) Megahy. Her grandchildren; Kim, Skip, Scott, Karlee, Antonia, Craig, Lennon, Tessia, Buddy, Ipisoowas, Tyler, Daylin, Carl (Aaron’s son), Olivia, Hanna, Kendra, Meldrick, and Matthew. Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Families of the Many Bears, Many Heads, Yellow Fly, Many Guns, Melting Tallow, Cutter, Rabbit Carrier, Poor Eagles, Duck Chief, Bull Bear, Red Gun, Big Snake, Crowfoot, Running Rabbit, Fox, Wolf Collar, Three Suns, Right Hand, Back Fat, Wright and Weasel Head. If we missed anyone we apologize.
Cecile went to residential school in the 1930s & 40s and after finishing her schooling she worked as a custodian for many years at the Crowfoot School and later on at the Old Sun Community College until her retirement. She married Matthew Many Guns in 1951 and had 9 children. She travelled to many places in Canada and United States during her life (Mexico, Vegas, Crow Pow-Wow, just to name a few) and her last trip was to Vancouver, BC, to visit her son Kelly in 2013. Many of her trips included her sister Cecilia along with other family members. Cecile and Cecilia were inseparable until she moved to Sagewood. Her past time was playing bingo and casino. Cecile was predeceased by her parents Lyndon and Dorothy Many Bears, her husband Matthew Many Guns, her son Darren Many Guns, her grandchildren: Jamie, Todd, Ajay and great-granddaughter Tahlia Precious Rosie. Also preceded by her sisters: Marie Many Bears, Theresa (Art) Yellow Fly, Mary (Jack) Running Rabbit, Emma (George) Fox-Many Feathers; brothers: Edmund (Jean) Many Bears, Jim (Alice) Many Bears, Damien Many Bears, and Phillip (Lilly) Many Bears; in-laws: Margaret Running Rabbit, Norma Cat Face, Clifford & Rosaline Many Guns, Tom Many Guns, and Carl Many Guns Sr.; aunties Beatrice (Joe) Poor Eagle and Margaret Bad Boy; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Thank you to Sagewood Age Centre Management & Staff for taking care of our beautiful mother, Cecile Many Guns.

Wake Services will be held at the Holy Trinity Church in Siksika Nation, Cluny, Alberta on Monday, April 01, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.; the Parish hall will be open for visits with family and friends starting at 6 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held at the Holy Trinity Church in Siksika Nation, Cluny, Alberta on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 12 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Little Chicago Cemetery in Siksika Nation, Alberta.
