Jean Mah of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 50 years.

  2. Gone too soon.
    To Jean’s family,
Jean was a wonderful friend. Jr High wasn’t always a pleasant experience, but Jean brought a quiet comfort to all her friends. She was a real person. Never fake. She always thought of others. She was always so supportive and never judged anything I shared with her. She was a rare and beautiful soul. I was so lucky and blessed to have known her.
Blessing and strength to you at this time.
To Jean – I love you my little Jean. I am going to miss you. I guess we have to wait a little longer than next summer to meet – but I know we will meet again. You made my world a lighter place. Thank you for being my true friend. I will always remember you with a smile.

  4. To Jean Mah’s family and friends,

Jean Mah was cute as a button and had this infectious laugh and a bratty (in a positive sense) goofy, awesome sense of humour and it made me laugh so hard especially, on days where I needed it the most. She was also so bright, intelligent and determined…made a very happy life for herself full of adventure (traveling the world) and living life to the fullest.

She was also a tough cookie having survived through the ups and downs of life. And she was a scrapper where she would not put up with anyone’s BS. And she was resilient, adventurous and so very brave. She turned certain things in her life that did not make her happy from being sour lemons into “lemonade”. She never was the type of person to wallow in self-pity.

Most of all, she was so very kind-hearted and had a very good soul who was gentle, and someone who only ever deserved good things in life and the best in life. She was also a very good friend to me offering me nothing but support, understanding and unconditional love. And no matter what was going on her life, she always found the time and consideration to offer a friend her love and support. She extended this kind of love and thoughtful gesture to everyone who knew her.

These are all of the many things I have always admired about her and she inspired me to be the best person I can be.

I will really miss you Jean Mah. I really love you and feel so blessed to have had you as one of my dear friends who was always in my corner. XXXX

  9. Jeannie, I’m glad you counted me as a friend. I’m thankful that our paths crossed at ProvLab and grateful that you chose us, the Environmental Waters lab. You were with us for a few but memorable years and we will always miss your Jeannie laugh. It was a such powerful chuckle for such a petite person. I was amazed. We became a tight-knit family and we went through thick and thin together, at work and at play. You were so funny, always kind, and super helpful. Thanks for your love Jeannie.
We will always miss you and we love you.
    Good bless you Jeannie Bobeanie!

You know all the answers now and are in a better place. We all miss you! We are glad you spent your life travelling. My deepest condolences in the loss of such an incredibly lovely woman. I met Jean in high school and counted her among my dear friends. It was wonderful to hear of her many travels and am happy that she lived so well in the shortened time she was with us. Heaven has taken a wonderful person from all of us. They must have a very important need for Jean up there. Truly an angel.

My deepest sympathies to Jean’s family and friends. Unfortunately as I live in Australia I am unable to attend Jean’s farewell.
I met Jean on a Contiki trip to New Zealand 25 years ago and was lucky to have been able to continue our friendship from written letters, through to emails and then facebook which made keeping in contact so much easier (not to mention quicker). We were making plans for a get together again but did not realise we were to be robbed of that last drink!
Rest peacefully my friend….your smile, your laugh, I will always remember you fondly and I miss you so so much.
    Cheers mate!

  22. Laurie Villeneuve :

Almost 30 years ago I first met and worked with Jean in the FMC Hematology department. Through her career as a Lab Tech – Jean challenged herself by working in various departments and facilities. These last few years she spent working in the Environmental Waters department at ProvLab alongside my husband. Not only was I a co-worker, but a co-traveler as in 1990 – we embarked on a Caribbean cruise upon the Princess Line. At that point, there were only about 25 passengers under the age of 25 on that ship. That did not stop Jean from having fun – in fact, when I spoke to her about it a while ago, she mentioned that she was still in touch with an officer of that ship and his wife. Ben and I are only 2 individual threads that were woven into Jeans fabric of life – she had many. She will be dearly missed.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Jean was such an open, authentic, witty and full of joy person. I met Jean in high school and haven’t lived in Calgary in many years but no matter where our paths went Jean somehow made the world feel small and as if we all still lived right next door. Jean had a special way of connecting with people and we are all better for having called her a friend.
May your shared memories of Jean and the love of all of us who share in this sorrow bring you comfort in this difficult time.
