MacMILLAN, Joan

Joan MacMillan of Calgary passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the age of 84 years.

Born in Paris, ON she graduated from the Hamilton General Hospital nursing program. On a travel adventure to Kingston she met aspiring mining engineer John, they married and set up residence in Calgary. While raising her four daughters she enjoyed bowling, was a nurse for Dr. Hal Medlicott, a docent at the Glenbow Museum and later volunteered managing Emily’s Window for the Calgary Children’s Hospital and the gift shops at the Peter Lougheed and General Hospital.

She enjoyed travel with John and friends to Asia, Italy, England and Ireland, bridge with the Engineers Wives and close friends, pub nights at her condo complex and many lunches with her cherished girlfriends. She loved the family dogs Bambie, Charlie and Beau and adored her grandchildren; delighting in their activities and interests as they grew. She leaves us with the memory of her beautiful smile and twinkle in her eye.

Joan is survived by Lesley, Leigh (Michael) Lindy (Benjamin) Lisa (George) Sophie, Eilish, Jonah and Calijah. Joan was preceded in death by her husband John 2016, and parents Charlie 1992 and Isobel 1999.
