December 15, 1956 – Toronto, Ontario
July 8, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta
Bruce Mackie unexpectedly passed away at his home on July 8, 2019.
Born in Toronto, ON, Bruce finished high school at E. P. Scarlet in Calgary where he met his best friend of forty-seven years, Rob, in the audio/visual room. He met his wife at the University of Calgary where they were both proud members of the Tuesday Beer Club. He went on to study law and was a lawyer for twenty-five years until he retired – but he never stopped arguing. He loved music, Italian food, and his family, not necessarily in that order. While initially a passionate Montreal Canadiens’ fan, he enjoyed watching the Flames and the Stamps and yelling at the refs on TV even though they couldn’t hear him. Bruce was a long standing member of the Rocky Mountain Model Club and leaves behind thousands of half built models. In later years, he enjoyed family visits to the UK and Denmark to visit his daughter. We know that he is just up around the corner, impatiently waiting for the rest of us to catch up.
He leaves behind his wife, Nancy, his daughter, Meaghan and his son, Duncan. Cammi, the family’s loving pup of over 14 years, will miss him too. He also leaves behind two brothers, Blair (Dawn) and Neil (Zarina) and nieces Tenaya, Jakarta, and Rhelle, and nephew Garret. He also leaves friends and family in Toronto, Nanimo, Clandeboye, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and other exotic places around the world.
An open house will be held at our home on Sunday, July 14, 2019 between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. for friends and family to come and tell stories.
