MACKAY, Charles Maurice

August 24, 1934 – Dominion, Nova Scotia
December 9, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Chuck, as he was known to his Calgary friends, was born in Dominion, Nova Scotia.

Father of eight, grandfather of nineteen, and great-grandfather to twelve, Chuck joined the army at a young age and was stationed in Germany and Petawawa during his service.

After his discharge from the military, Chuck lived in Guelph, Ontario until moving to Calgary in the 1980s.

Before his illness began five years ago, Chuck spent much of his time ballroom dancing, playing pool, caring for his furry friend Mickey, sharing his gift of healing, and regaling all with his antics, stories and sense of humour.

There was never a dull moment when Chuck was in the house.

Chuck will be remembered with a Family Service in Guelph, Ontario.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Chuck’s name may be made directly to The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary – 4416 5 Street NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7C3, Telephone: (403) 471-9851, www.theveteransfoodbankofcalgary.ca.

In living memory of Charles Mackay, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
