Alasdair R. C. MacDonald of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the age of 49 years.

Alasdair was born in Ottawa, ON on December 29, 1965 and he lived there for the first fifteen years of his life. He moved to Calgary in 1981 where he attended Lord Beaverbrook High School and graduated in 1984. He later attended the University of Calgary where he earned degrees in both Psychology and Education. He went on to a very meaningful career as a high school teacher at both Earnest Manning and Centennial High Schools. He also worked for many years as a counselor at Hull Home and Wood’s Home. He will be lovingly remembered as a passionate humanitarian and a champion of the underdog.

Alasdair is survived by his father Richard MacDonald; seven siblings, Roy MacDonald, Catherine Crothers, Fraser MacDonald, Glena Fedori, Shona Brodeur, Fran Del Castilho, and Donegan MacDonald; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Janet MacDonald.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. We are keeping all of you in our prayers and hearts. Our deepest sympathy on the loss of Alasdair, fond memories of Highland Game weekends spent together in Maxville and Greenfield. All the high jinks that cousins could get into, running the rocks at Greenfield. Always a bundle of energy was Al.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. MacDonald taught my son for 3 years and transformed his life. You hear stories about out standing teachers who a make difference.
