LYALL, Mary (nee Clenaghan)

June 30, 1923 – Dundee, Scotland
July 26, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with immense sadness that we announce that Mary Lyall, 96, passed away to the other side on Friday, July 26, 2019.

Mary joined the Royal Navy in the Second World War, serving in Stornoway, Scotland. After meeting and marrying Arthur who served in both the Royal Air Force and then the Royal Canadian Air Force, they both continued a journey in the Forces and traveled extensively through Europe and Canada, finally settling in Calgary in the 1980s to be with family. Mary will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother with a witty sense of humour right to the end.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Terry (Lorraine), Arthur (Alicia), John (Judy), Joseph (Takako); as well as her daughters, Teresa, Catherine (William) and Angelica; and many grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband Arthur Lyall and her son-in-law Malcolm Munro.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow in the “Field of Honour” at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com. The family would like to thank all the staff at HomeCare for their continued support throughout Marys last days.

In living memory of Mary Lyall, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
