LUDWICK, Margaret Rose (Marg)

February 7, 1943 – Thunder Bay, Ontario
August 2, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

With deep sadness we announce the passing of our much loved wife, mother, and friend, Margaret (Marg) who bravely fought a very brief battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Orest, daughter Lyndsey Jamieson (Mike), son Murray (Julie), and grandchildren: Cassandra, Alexander, Zachary and Jordan James. Marg had a very special bond with her niece Susan, great-niece Katherine Margaret, and her granddaughter Cassandra and they, along with her many nieces and nephews will sadly miss her.

Predeceased by her loving father and mother, William James and Madeline Bell, and her sister and close friend, Mary Greaves, Marg was born and raised in Fort William (Thunder Bay) Ontario, where she graduated in Nursing at McKeller General Hospital in 1965. A blind date with Orest Ludwick in 1964 led to marriage in 1966, which was followed by a very well lived life, filled with hard work, children, her ‘camps’ (Royal Lake, Lake of the Woods and Moyie) many friends, extensive travel, a home in Puerto Vallarta and much volunteer work. Marg will always be remembered for her warm hospitality and her special talents in interior design, home décor, and love of rocks. Margaret was someone who truly enjoyed a good ‘happy hour’, because it meant that it was time to stop work, and everyone would gather to enjoy each other’s company, and to plan and anticipate life’s next great adventure.

Funeral Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church (290 Edgepark Boulevard N.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the church. Friends and relatives are invited to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel & Suites Calgary West (8220 Bowridge Crescent NW, Calgary, AB) at 4:00 p.m. in the Jasper Room. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Salvation Army Food Bank Program, 1731 29th Street SW Calgary, AB, T3C 1M6, on line at www.salvationarmy.ca, or by phone 403-410-1112.

In living memory of Margaret Ludwick, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. CALGARY, AB, T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.

My deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to you and your family. It was such a shock to learn of her passing. As a nursing classmate we were together in Ottawa celebrating our reunion and she was so vibrant and full of life. She talk about her knee replacement and encouraged me to get mine done as she was so happy with her results. She talked about her love of Pilates and how strong she felt and fit for her surgery. Sadly she will be missed.

We didn’t know Marg as well as many of you, but she was there most every time we
were at the condo. She would “buzz” by our kitchen window, clearly on some mission. She was always pleasant and cordial and more than happy to help when she could. We are quite saddened by her passing. She must have been a “pistol” in the family. Our most sincere condolences to all her family. Many will miss her presence.
