Condolence Messages

  1. Ken, you were a true corner piece and mentor to the many young people that served under your tutelage over the past several decades within the Calgary EPC industry. For many of us you (Ken) were the grand master of telling tales and your one of a kind “Ken-isums” will be truly cherished and told over and over again by all us for many year to follow… Rest now my friend.

Ken-a man who will be truly missed by his family and friends. A man you would cross the street to talk to, who would enjoy listening to your story and enjoy telling his own. His friendly manner and sharp intellect endeared others to him. Not a man to do things by half but full-on in everything that interested him. He leaves a rich legacy of colourful anecdotes and memories that will oft be repeated by those who knew him and enjoyed his company.

    Dear Betty,

Galina and I are out of the country currently and have just heard of Ken’s passing. We are so saddened at the news and pass our heart felt condolences to you, Andrew, family and friends.

As most of his fellow workers and friends, I always remember his humorous side in his daily banter – I could never figure what “suck egg mule” meant, but then again he had such great sayings, that many of us over the years at Delta/Jacobs, remember so well. He once told me that “I was lower than a snake’s belly in a wagon wheel rut”, a visual of this was always interesting – what kind of snake? I had to defend myself as always, as I knew someone in the office who was lower!

Ken was a “Killer on the Court” at the Heritage Square courts and I was often inspired how some one being left handed could hit the ball so hard and low, whether racquetball or squash!

He was also a ten pin bowler – I always remember his comedic angst when my lady partner and I won a tight game against his team (only to be repeated offline)!

He will be well remembered Betty, we will be in touch… All the strength to you in those moments of fond memory, we pull for you..

    Best Wishes,
    Jim and Galina

Dear Betty and All of Ken’s Family,

My deepest sympathy on the loss of Ken, to me, he was always so much younger than I. Ken and I first met, when he was hired as a junior piping draftsman at Stearns Roger, who operated a pipe fabrication shop on Fairmount Drive in Calgary, and I was the “Chief Engineer” for the Stearns Roger operation. That would have been in either 1966 or 1967. We reconnected when I joined Delta Projects in Fisher Park in 1973 and he joined not long after that. We again worked together at Delta, now called Delta Hudson during the 1990’s, until 1998.
    My deepest condolences.
May you rest in peace, Ken

    Dear Betty and Family
We will always miss his friendly smile, his wave and conversations.
I loved teasing him as he sat out front while you worked on your flowers.
I would ask what’s wrong with this picture and how do you get a wife like that!
He would say he got lucky.
We couldn’t ask for better neighbours all these years.
Our thoughts are with you and the family!

  20. I am very saddened to hear of Ken’s passing. Ken and I worked together at Delta Projects and I remember well his smile, chuckling and great sense of humour. My time with Delta Projects was a highlight of my career, made so because of professionals like Ken who not only knew how to produce quality work, but also how to have some fun along the way.

    My sincerest condolences,

It was with sadness that we heard of Ken’s illness and passing. I don’t know of a more fit and competitive guy than the Rookie so having anything beat him was shocking. From the time Ken joined Stearns-Roger as a fuzzy cheeked kid replacement for his brother-in-law, Brian, he has affectionatly been known as the ‘Rookie’! We had many fun times together. Say hi to Skunge, our old boss, who recently passed away.
Take care Betty and family. R.I.P. Rook!
