LOVE, Lucy Anne

November 1, 1951 – Calgary, Alberta
September 21, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Lucy Love of Calgary, AB passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the age of 66 years.

Operatic star in the making, Weight Watchers motivational speaker, banker and financial/estate planner, crisis call centre specialist, home care nurse, retired angel, loyal friend, mindful sister and loving companion, Lucy Love gave with her whole heart. She was generous to all she loved. Born, educated and living her entire life in Calgary, Lucy earned the praises, respect and love of many. Effervescent and enthused with a quick wit, discerning eye and crackling tongue, Lucy gave no quarter and asked none as she crested the waves of living cascading against the shores of life. Rarely satisfied and always searching for the best in everyone around her, Lucy would frequently grab life with both hands. Lucy had a wonderful twinkle in her eye and beaming smile when she was her happiest. The many challenges in life made her stronger for yet another hill to climb. Lucy loved so many things in life and especially dogs and wolves. Lucy was also challenged her entire life with health issues which frequently took the colour and enthusiasm from her life. Spiritual and a believer in God, Lucy Anne charted her own faith journey, relying on her angels to guide her. She knew where she was going.

Lucy is survived by her lifelong companion Martin Steele; older brother Mark (Theresa) Love and younger sister Susan Love; as well as long time friend Marlene and John Crews and their extended family. Lucy is also survived by her niece Heather Love and her nephew Sean Love (and partner Amy Cox) and her grandnephew Cole Love. Lucy is one among a legion of the century old, multi-generational Love Family clan; too many to mention individually yet all held high in her memories.

Lucy Anne as many called her was predeceased by her father James Walter (Ora) Love, mother Lucy Love (Pace) and step-brother Roger J. Tierney and many aunts and uncles from both the Love and Pace families who wait patiently.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The Reverend Murdo Marple will conclude the viewing in prayer.

Funeral Services will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church (1009 – 15th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Family Room. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

Please accept my condolences on Lucy’s passing. We were friends a long time ago and enjoyed many lunches and evenings with her and Linda Riddler which were always enlivened by Lucy’s sparkling wit and joie de vivre. My mother knew the family from Medicine Hat.

  3. Luscious, an angel amongst us, with us forever in our hearts and memories <3
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
