LOEWEN, Patricia (Pat) Margaret Edith (nee Reid)

March 17, 1925 – High Bluff, Manitoba
January 31, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Patricia (Pat) Loewen of Calgary passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the age of 93 years.

Pat was very proud of her Canadian heritage and especially her Manitoba roots. Born in High Bluff, Manitoba, she moved to Portage La Prairie in 1940. In 1947, Pat earned her RN at the Winnipeg General Hospital. She later earned her Public Health degree at the University of Alberta in 1968. Pat retired from Nursing in 1985 after 16 years at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. She remained in North Vancouver until 2017 when she moved to Calgary to join her sons, David & Reid.

Predeceased by her husband Gordon Loewen and her brother David Reid, Pat is lovingly remembered by her children David (Candice), Janice (Rudy), Reid (Victoria) and grandchildren Chelsee, Alisha, James, Ilse, Kurt, Vanessa, Mason and great grandson Leo, and many relatives of the Loewen and Reid families.

The family wishes to thank all of those health-care professionals who have attended to Pat’s medical care especially those at Cedar Springs in North Vancouver and United Living Fish Creek in Calgary, as well as her wonderful companions at Nurse Next Door and Home Instead.

At Pat’s request there will be no service; the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date when the flowers are in bloom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA at or Alzheimer Society at Condolences may be forwarded through
