March 8, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Arnold Lindsay of Calgary, passed away peacefully after a tough battle with throat cancer on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the age of 62 years.

Arnie as many knew him, was a kind, caring and happy individual. He spent his life teaching many people the trade he enjoyed. He was a mentor and teacher to many scaffolders throughout his career which was a great accomplishment. Arnie also enjoyed skiing, and camping in his beloved mountains. By far his greatest accomplishment was raising his three sons to be kind, caring and respectful men. Arnie will be missed by his family, friends, and those who earned his respect and he called brother.

Arnie is survived by his sons, Robert (Misty) Lindsay, Cory Lindsay, and Christopher Lindsay; there mother and his caregiver Barb; grandchildren, Ryan, Danica, Jessica, Emily, Rayna, Lily and a seventh grand-child on the way, all of whom he loved with all his Heart; siblings, Wilma (Renelle) Gauthier, Walter Lindsay, and Grant (Carol) Lindsay; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he cared for more then he may have expressed.

Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Boyd and Esther Lindsay.

  4. Arnie was a great friend, an amazing father/grandfather and one of the best scaffolder that I ever had the pleasure of working with. He mentored half of southern Alberta. I was fortunate and worked along side Lonny Forbes. For those of you that don’t know Lonny Forbes. Lonny is a legend in Calgary when it comes to scaffolding. Anyways, Lonny told me that Arnie was one of the best tube and clamp builders he had ever known, now if Lonny respected Arnie and held Arnie at this level. Well read between the lines. Arnie was funny as f#*k, he always made you laugh, made you feel welcomed and was a kind/gentle person. Arnie will be missed by all that had the pleasure of meeting him. Rest In Peace brother The Plata Family

  9. My condolences to Arnie’s family. He left a legacy of a strong work ethic and skill set that is being continued by his sons. When there were no carpentry jobs to be found 40yrs ago Arnie was a pioneer in the movement to industrial scaffolding and the skills he brought showed we could handle the job and opened the doors for so many others. All Brothers and Sisters in the trade since can be traced back to Arnie and a small core of coworkers
