May 27, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta

John “Jack” Leong beloved husband of Jean of Calgary, passed away peacefully with family and wonderful care attendants by his side at the Beverly Care Centre, Lake Midnapore at the age of 92 years.

In his younger years, Jack was a pilot in the RCAF and flew many training missions throughout Canada. Jack was a motorcycle enthusiast and an avid hillclimber and racer as a member of the Ace Hy Club. He played football and hockey and loved to fish in his favorite mountain lakes.

Jack enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an electrician. After his retirement his passion for photography lead him to work at Japan Camera and London Drugs where he was much sought after for his expertise in cameras and accessories.

Jack was an avid football and hockey fan who enjoyed cheering on the Stamps and Flames. Jack was a wonderful story teller, and loved to share his life experiences with everyone and anyone who would lend him an ear.

Jack is survived by Jean, his loving wife of fifty-nine years; four children, Terry (Madonna) Leong, Carol (Leonard) Sherban, Brenda Leong-Holloway and Denise (Bruce) Eckert. Jack will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  4. To Uncle Jack’s extended Family, Gina and I would like to express our sincere condolences on hearing of the passing of Uncle Jack.

My fondest memory of Uncle Jack was as a young boy of about 7 when I injured myself running through a construction site and stepping on a long nail that went through my foot. I hid the injury from my Mom for a few days but my foot became badly infected. As it happened Uncle Jack was visiting in Vancouver and Mom (his sister Winnie) told him of my accident. Uncle Jack came to visit and brought me a fishing rod & reel that I was thrilled about for many years and to this day have never forgotten. Uncle Jack was to me a wonderful person, generous, soft spoken and kind.

Rest in Peace Uncle Jack ………………
