LATIMER, Ernest Clifton (Clayton)

March 15, 1951 – St. Thomas, Ontario
May 13, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Clayton passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the age of 67 years. He was born in Saint Thomas, ON. His mother was a Baptist minister and his father owned a trucking company. Clayton learned the art of driving a semi from his father at a very early age. In his younger days he worked at Stelco Steel in Hamilton where he made many friends and he enjoyed telling stories from those days. Clayton was a newspaper man as well. He wrote many stories, always being sure to tell the whole story and expose the truth. Clayton loved music and had a career in the music industry. He also had a beautiful voice and sang in a choir as a child. Clayton loved speed in any form. He raced his cars, speed boats and his motorcycles. Clayton drove a big rig to support his family. This was always his go to career. He would tell new drivers, he had driven more miles backwards than they had ever driven forwards. He used to boast about having driven over a million miles in a rig.

Clayton moved out west and worked for a man, Farmer Jones. Clayton had great respect for this man and learned many things from him. He also met, worked with, and made a friend for life, Pete. Clayton had a very profound understanding of the political world and its inner workings. He was a strong willed man, with a very loving heart, always turning the other cheek when someone did him wrong. Wherever he went people seemed to gravitate towards Clayton. He knew many people from many walks of life. Clayton was about to start a new job with the Red Cross. He was very excited about this new chapter in his life. We will all miss you Clayton. Rest in Peace.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at The Thorncliffe Greenview Community. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
