LAPPAS, Muriel Evelyn

Muriel Lappas passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the age of 87 years.

Muriel was born in Pakesley Ontario on October 5, 1929 and she taught elementary school in Sudbury for nearly 25 years. She married her beloved husband Paul on July 5, 1969 and they moved to Calgary ten years later.

Muriel enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching figure skating, hockey and curling. For a number of years, she and Paul were enthusiastic sponsors of the Airdrie Thunder Hockey Team and attended most games, even when it was physically difficult for her to do so.

Family, friends and neighbours will remember her for her smile, her generosity, her love of jewelry and her quiet sense of humour.

Muriel is also survived by her cousins with whom she shared a special bond and who affectionately called her Mamie. She will be fondly remembered by the extended Lappas family and will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted husband Paul. She was predeceased by her parents Pearl and Vern Woodard.

Visitation will be held at McINNIS AND HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2:00 to 3:00p.m. Remembrances and prayers at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment will follow at a later date at Sylvan Acres Cemetery in Parry Sound, Ontario. Condolences may be forwarded through
