LAMONT, Clarke Joseph

October 7, 1940 – Calgary, Alberta

January 11, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, Poppy, and treasured friend, Clarke Lamont On Friday, January 11, 2019 at the age of 78 years.

Clarke was predeceased by Pat McCallum Lamont the love of his life for 48 years. Clarke and Pat met while attending school at the University of Montana.  It was in Montana that he met many wonderful lifelong friends.  Upon graduation, he went on to have a successful career in oil & gas then as a stock broker, which paved the way to become a prominent, successful business owner for over 40 years.

His greatest pride were his sons, Dave, Doug and his daughter-in-law Molly Lamont. Clarke enjoyed talking about their many accomplishments and time spent together reminiscing over the memories they created together over the years. Clarke loved the time that he was able to spend with his amazing grandsons Nolan and Greyson, he cherished watching them grow up. As an avid car enthusiast and collector since his teenage years, Clarke treasured the many lifelong friendships he developed through his passion for cars. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona as this afforded him the time to spend with his family and his cars. In the summer months he loved golfing with his group of guys at the Willow Park Golf and Country Club.

He was so grateful for Pat’s sisters Bonnie Parks and her late husband Gord, Beth and brother in-law Alex Tutschek, and Clarke’s nieces and nephews for all the cherished memories and the love they provided him throughout the years.

Family also wishes to thank the hematology Unit 57a at the Foothills Medical Centre for the wonderful care provided.

Funeral Services will be held at Anglican Parish of Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 – 8th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM.  Reception to follow Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Clarke Lamont, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

  5. Dear Doug and Dave:

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your Dad.

I met Clarke back in 1984 at General Refrigeration. As a newbie to the industry, he was one of the few people that took the time to welcome me and mentor me – always a smile, great personal and professional advice, and always made time to include a social side to the business.

He welcomed me into his business and his home. Both your Mother and Father always made time to spend time with me no matter where we were.

Clarke was one of those few people you meet in your life that makes you smile inside every time you think about them. No matter how much time passed between seeing each other, it was like we were never apart – lots of laughs, camaraderie, business, and friendship. He definitely left his mark in a good way – he will be sadly missed.

    To the Lamont family,
It is with a heavy heart that we learned of Clarke’s passing. As part of his “Montana Family,” we all have so many fond memories of Clarke and Pat. From our trips to Calgary for hockey games, to Homecoming gatherings in Missoula, to visits in the Phoenix area. Clarke and Pat were wonderful, kind and very generous people… We share in your sorrows, but also feel very fortunate to have spent precious time with these special friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

  9. Our sincere condolences on the passing of Clarke. I met Clarke and Pat through the Alumni Board at the University of Montana, and considered both of them to be treasured friends. We had many great times at the U of M at homecoming over the years. They also hosted us to Flames games as well as Dave Dickenson’s first start as a QB for the Stampede. I’m not sure I know of kinder or more generous people. Condolences to all of the Lamont family from your friends in Butte Mt.

    To Doug & Dave,
I’m saddened to hear of your Dad’s passing. Clarke had a big impression on me growing up. He was such a character. He was hilarious. To this day, every time I’m in a boat…”Ship to shore, Pat honey! Ship to shore!”. I miss your lovely parents a lot & wish the best for you guys. Love from Mike & Leigh in Vancouver.

  13. One of a kind and a man that made it all work. Clarke’s positive attitude and can-do determination were incredible. A friend was forever and his family came first. Followed closely by the Montana Grizzlies. Warm fall afternoons enjoying Griz football and rounds of golf. Stock’s Bar on Thursday before Homecoming. Mansion for dinner and later Caffe Dolce. Rare was the moment you did not know where you stood with Clarke. Making you feel special was his specialty. Pat’s specialty too.

George Dennison loved it when Clarke arranged a limo to pick us up at the airport. Limo had small flags that suggested the passengers were diplomats. Visiting Calgary from Montana yes but only two in the car qualified as diplomats. Clarke and George.

There are so many memories. Hockey, the Calgary Flames mascot joining our wine and beer party, Calgary’s Montana golf tournament, the Jeep raffle and so many more.

Blessed are the family and friends of Clarke and Pat Lamont. We miss them but we were fortunate to have them as part of our lives. Condolences to Dave, Doug and family.

  21. Dear Dave & Doug,
It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of your Dad. I will like to send my sincere condolences to both of you and your extended family.
My parents informed me of this very sad news last night at my son’s hockey game. I was very fortunate to have your dad as my hockey coach when my family first moved to Calgary back in 1980 – and having Dave as a teammate and friend when I was new to the Bonavista community looking back, was pretty cool. I have fond memories of your dad as our coach and always being very generous and giving each player on the team brand new Northland hockey sticks!!! and unlimited access to hockey tape!!
Your Dad was a very genuine and sincere person that has left lasting impressions with many people in this world and I was fortunate to have him as one of my mentors as a young person.

Wishing you both strength in this very difficult time.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Miller
