LACUATA, Gregory

January 11, 1988 – Calgary, Alberta
October 21, 2018 – St. John’s, Newfoundland

Heaven gained an angel when Gregory Ryan Lacuata joined our Father in heaven on October 21, 2018 in Newfoundland, Canada.

Though his days were short here on earth, we were blessed with thirty years of his Life. Gregory was born January 11, 1988 at Grace Hospital in Calgary, Alberta Canada. He attended Beaverbrook High School and was an active member of Greenhills Christian Fellowship.
Gregory is the beloved second son of three, of his father, Gregorio Ragonot Lacuata and his mother Elizabeth Ner Lacuata. He will be greatly missed by his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael John and Joy Ann and Victor Matthew and Gillian; three nieces, Aaliyah Grace, Elise Laine and Mireille Faith; and his sister and brother-in-law Jennielee and Lucito and their children Jalen Matthew, Kaylee Reese and Ella Madison. He will longingly be remembered by his extensive extended family. There are so many people who shared in his life. He was a God-Loving and faithful man who openly shared his Love for God. At such a young age, he battled years of genetically linked kidney failure and never once would he complain of his struggles but merely, carry out what he needed to do when his treatment called for it. Regardless of his body failing him, never did his heart fail to show his love and care for those he was surrounded with. He loved to cook, read the Bible and would never fear the Road Less Travelled.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Gregory’s Celebration of Life at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Gregory Lacuata, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB, T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.

  2. I’m very sorry to hear this news. Greg was a good friend of mine growing up playing street hockey and making up handshakes. We drifted apart as we grew but I often thought of him as an adult because he had such a magnetic personality. 4. I am extremely saddened to hear about Greg’s untimely passing. As Greg and my brother Max were close childhood buddies, I hung out with him quite a lot by proxy. He had such a huge personality, very kindhearted, and extremely funny.

My favorite memory of Greg was the time that he made me laugh so hard that I wet my pants. I can’t even remember what he was joking about, but he had such a great delivery that it didn’t really matter. He wore this accomplishment like a badge of honor. Even years and years after the fact, he’d never fail to bring it up when we were together (including the last time I saw him, only a few years ago!).

Even though we haven’t been close over recent years, this news still hurts a lot. To Matt, Mike, the rest of his family and close friends, I offer my condolences.

My deepest sympathy to the lacuata family. I attended school with Matt and never thought years later I would form a close bond with Greg. There are so many things I will miss about Greg, his smile, his late night phone calls, the way he just over all made u feel like a good person, he was so good at lifting a person up when they were down. He was encouraging and could make u feel like everything in life was achievable. It had been a year since I had seen you, and my last memorie of you was seeing you at Chinook mall where you got to meet my son , True . He instantly latched onto you , you played with him and when it came time to leave it was a fight to get him back into his stroller, like me he was drawn to your kind loving heart.
I can’t imagine a earth that your not walking , but I take comfort knowing your in a place that you would be excited to be. And as you prepare our spots in heaven where we will one day be with you again, I hope your still smiling and keeping your head up. Love you Greg❤️

  16. My deepest condolences go out to the Lacauta family. Please know that my thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

I have very fond memories growing up as a child with Gregory. I first met him in Ms. Oaks class at Sundance School in Grade 2. She used to give out detention minutes and make you write them up on the chalk board if you talked too much or disrupted the class. Gregory and I used to laugh and joke with each other so much that we would often find our names on the board after school. Most of the time it was because Gregory was so funny and had such an infectious smile and laugh that it would make it impossible for me to stop laughing. This would end up getting us both in trouble and I think we ended up setting the record for most detention minutes in a day that year! One thing I’ll always remember about that time in our lives is that it never mattered how many minutes I had on that chalk board, his name would always be right there beside mine. That’s just the type of person Gregory was, he would always have your back no matter what. A fearless leader and a kind and caring friend throughout the years, I would not be who I am today without him. Even though it hurts so bad to know he is gone, I take comfort knowing he is in a better place. Gregory wasn’t just a friend he was my brother! We will always remember him and may he live on in our hearts forever. On behalf of the Sundance crew, I love you my brother! Rest In Peace.
