KULDANEK, Stanislawa (Stella)

December 18, 1931 – Blazowa, Poland
June 20, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Stanislawa (Stella) Maria Kuldanek of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the age of 87 years.

Stella was born and raised in the small town of Blazowa, Poland, where she lived and survived WWII. In 1956, at the age of twenty five; her uncle, Walter Chuchla, sponsored her for immigration to Canada. Which is where, in 1960, she met and married her husband of forty two years, Karol Kuldanek.

Stella was an active member of the local Polish community and a long time parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Polish Parish. She enjoyed lending a helping hand with the ladies auxiliary at the Polish Combatants Association of Calgary (SPK) as well as assisting with the sewing of dance costumes for the Polania Dance Group where her children performed. In her later years, she volunteered with “Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids”, a group providing healthy lunches for school children.

Stella’s greatest love was her family and especially her numerous grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking and making polish sausage. In addition, she loved flowers and had a particular passion for gardening. She will be most remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. Stella, affectionately known as “Babcia” to many, had a generous heart and compassionate spirit that will be missed by all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her husband, Karol Kuldanek, her parents as well as three brothers in Poland. Stella is survived by her five children, Barb Csak (Attila), John Kuldanek, Irene Markovinovic (Ivica), Dana Derkat (John) all of Calgary, and Yolanda Krywulak (Steven) of Kelowna, B.C. Stella is also survived by her brother Mietek Sleczka (Krystyna) who resides in Mackenzie, B.C. She precedes her sons-in-law, fourteen grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North Calgary, AB) on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.
