KREMNICA, Wilma Margaret

July 15, 1941 – Abernathy, Saskatchewan
January 22, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce that Wilma Kremnica, beloved wife of David Kremnica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 22, 2019 in Calgary, AB at the age of 77 years.

Wilma was born in Abernathy, SK and as an infant spent time with her family in Dunnville, ON. As a toddler her family moved to St. George, NB before returning to Melville, SK. Later they moved to Calgary and Wilma graduated from Western Canada High School in 1959 where she was a member of Sigma Delta Chi Sorority as well as the Women’s basketball team. It was around this time she met David, her neighbour from across the street, and the two fell in love. Wilma went on to become a Registered Nurse, graduating at Calgary General Hospital in 1962. She left the profession for a time to devote herself to raising her family. During this time she worked as a Sales Clerk at Eaton’s department store. Wilma returned to nursing in 1989, where she worked as a Charge Nurse at the Foothills Medical Centre Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, retiring in 2004.

Wilma shared her love of life with her many friends and family. She had a sparkling personality, always thought of others before herself, and supported everyone she knew. She enjoyed camping, travelling with her family, reading, and crafts, but most of all she loved kids and had a special bond with her many grandchildren. Wilma was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Besides her loving husband David whom she married in 1962, Wilma is survived by her children, Janet Holmes (Keith), Joanne Derouin (Darryl), and Bryce Kremnica (Shay Khan); and her grandchildren Emma, Scott, Matthew, Kate, Adam, Grey, and Cole. She will also be deeply missed by her brother Robert Storms (Kathy). Wilma was predeceased by her parents Margaret Storms (nee Radcliffe) and Russell Matthews.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Our sincere condolences to David Kremnica and Family on the passing of Wilma. Wilma was a lovely, friendly woman well liked by all who had the good fortune
to know her and be her friend.
It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, and a day to
love them, but it takes an entire lifetime to forget them. Unknown.

  5. Wilma was a big part of my childhood as were all of you. She was even larger in my Mums life as she was just like a big sister for her. Over my adulthood the many memories my Mum has shared with me are so cherished and I myself have reflected back to times in Bonavista with all of you often! Life is forever different from now on for each of you and the depth of family lines will help you get through. Both Jeff and I are sending our thoughts from Kelowna to all of you in this difficult time.

  6. Dear David and Family,
Wilma and I worked every shift together and took every break together for almost 15 years at FMC. She was wonderful compassionate nurse and human being, she was more than a colleague to me, she was a great friend. We spent many hours sharing our lives and although we lost touch in the last few years, she will forever be etched in my heart. The world was a better place with her in it, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. My deepest condolences to you all.
