KNIGHT, David Malcolm (Dave)

October 19, 1946 – London, England
July 24, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Dave Knight of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on July 24, 2018 at the age of 71 years.

David was born in London England and immigrated to Canada with his wife and 3 daughters in 1977. He worked as a butcher at Meatland in St. Catharines Ontario for many years. He never knew a stranger, and loved to engage everyone he met in lively conversation. He spent his free time tending to his garden, and sitting in the sun with a cold beer while reading the local news, a good biography or world history. He was a generous soul and would never see anyone go without, and easily gave what he had to help others. He had a dry British sense of humor and was known as a playful practical joker who had an uncanny ability to make people believe a far fetched story, to his delight. His children were raised listening to the Beatles, and his admiration for his home country and family in England was at the center of his heart.

David is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Kowalczyk of Calgary, Kala Wilson of Ontario and Rebecca and Neil Baumgardner of Montana. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Leena, Colin, Conner, Ronnie, Olivia, Adam, Luke, Marshall, Rafe and Charlie; his beloved sisters Jean, Rosemary, Celia and his brother Chris; along with many nieces and nephews, all who reside in England and Australia.

David was predeceased by his wife Susan (Lord) who was the love of his life, his brother Victor Knight, his brother in law Robert Lord (Linda) and his parents, Ivy (Brewer) and Victor Knight; and his cherished cat, Barney.

With respect to David’s wishes, a celebration of his life will take place in Ontario with his friends and family and also later in London England, where he will be laid to rest. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s and/or Cancer Society in his honor.

In living memory of David Knight, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th STREET S.E.. Telephone: 403-203-0525.
