KMERA, John Walter

Posted By Obits On September 27, 2018 @ 11:38 AM In Crowfoot Chapel Obituaries,Obituary | 27 Comments

John Kmera translated peacefully in Calgary on September 26, 2018 at the age of 63 surrounded by his wife and children.

John is survived by his loving wife Brigita, son Derek, daughters Sabrina & Amanda and his siblings Helen, Mary & Stan. For John, family was always the single most important influence in his life, and he will always be remembered for his generous love, gentle kindness, as a pillar of strength for those around him and for his smile which came from both his eyes and his heart.

John would want to remind all of us that “love is the force that returns soul to God”.

John will forever be lovingly remembered within his spiritual community and all those he impacted throughout his life. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

The first time I met John was at a Saskatoon ECK seminar where he spoke and played what looked like a toy saxophone. He was so funny, the memory is precious. I remember his gentle, gracious, respectful, soft, smooth, quiet, and thoughtful ways and I miss him.

Hi John. For me you’re still here, in my heart. Everyone here has written very good things about you. You are good man with a good smile on your face all the time. Nice to talk with. Condolence from Les T on September 29th, 2018 8:14 PM

Driving home the day John passed I needed a upbeat rock and roll song to lift my spirits. I was a couple minutes from home and turned on the radio to hear commercials. I said “John, when I get home I am going to get my record player, grab my Kansas album and play “ Carry on Wayward Son”. As I finished sentence that song started playing on the radio.
It reaffirmed my beliefs and I knew John was ok and I am grateful he heard me.
John will be missed by many and tears will be shed as some of mine have. My memories of John will be incredible and we will meet again.
Not goodbye John, just so long

Condolence from Susan Leslie on September 29th, 2018 10:35 PM

Dearest Brigita and family,
I was saddened to hear of John’s passing and offer my deep condolences to you all. John stood tall in so many ways. He was a loving, gentle presence and a pillar of strength and wisdom in his spiritual community. He often worked unselfishly in the background with deep humility, devoting his life to Truth and service to his family. I will miss John and his humour, and optimism about life. My sons, Alex and Evan also send condolences and have fond remembrances of John from their youth, and occasions with him, Brigita, Derek and Amanda.

Condolence from Claire Koelmans on October 1st, 2018 12:03 PM

Dear Brigita, family and friends

I am saddened to hear of the unexpected passing of our beloved John. It is heart warming to read the tributes of this gentle giant and how he impacted us with the steadfastness of his grace, humility, kindness and humor. I’ve known John since Grade 5. Even as a young boy he had a quiet charismatic depth that touched me deeply. It was an unexpected gift to meet him in Calgary decades later where I was able to tell him how much I always admired him. Our path continued to “spontaneously” cross as the years unfolded…and always I was touched by the magnitude of his Soul. Thank you John for being you.

With love,
Claire and Stuart

John worked for many years with less fortunate people and, judging from his gentle and understanding nature, is no doubt missed by a great many who were touched by his genuine kindness, trustworthiness, and warm caring smile. As Les said, I’m sure we’ll meet again some day.

Brigita I am so shocked to learn that John has left us.
It has been a blessing to have known John. He taught me what love, wisdom and humility is all about. John was my first teacher as an Eckist. I will always carry his example in my heart.
If angels walk among us, he was one of them.
John you will be missed greatly, but what an immense joy your arrival on the other side must have caused.

Condolence from Dr. Rashida Keshavjee &John Farrell on February 20th, 2019 12:54 PM

Dear Brigita, Derek, Sabrina and Amanda

It was with utter shock and deep sadness that we learnt of John’s passing when we went to Home Depot to deliver our delayed Christmas present, and to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to him for his kindness and boundless generosity of time and patience during our major appliance purchase at Home Depot.

John, in his quintessential gentle, kind, gracious and quiet manner treated us with unwavering patience, compassion, and kindness in our many visits to get detailed advice and specs on the appliance, and reassured us of all our concerns. We will always use our Frigidaire with the remembrance of John’s kind and smiling face.

Yes, in His eternal mercy and kindness, God speak to us through the likes of gentle, generous, and kind souls like John. May his soul rest in eternal peace in heaven

Our heartfelt sympathy and condolences in your irretrievable loss; He will be sorely missed.

In Sadness – Sincere kind regards
Dr. Rashida Keshavjee & John Farrell
