KINSELLA, Terrence (Terry) Patrick

October 11, 1926 – Riviere Qui Barre, Alberta
February 25, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Terrence (Terry) Kinsella of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the age of 92 years.

Terry was a kind man with a gentle soul, who loved to joke around, had a quick smile and a wonderful way of making friends with anyone. The eldest of five children, Terry was born and raised in Riviere Qui Barre, Alberta and grew up on the family farm. He was active in farming, and his true love was baseball. Terry lived and worked in Edmonton and later moved to Calgary, working in furniture sales at Eaton’s, The Bay and Sears. He was active in his community and could often be found socializing with friends over coffee or playing cribbage.

Terry was dedicated to his family. He was a proud father of four children and was especially committed to raising his special-needs son, Thomas, until his untimely passing in 2001. His love for Thomas was immediately evident to all who saw Terry holding him, playing with him, reading to him, or pushing him in his wheelchair. Family brought Terry much joy and happiness, and many happy times were spent in Kananaskis country at the William Watson Lodge. Terry was blessed with four grandchildren of whom he was so proud and who brought him endless joy.

Terry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years Shirley Kinsella (nee Fletcher); daughter Ruth (Kevin) van Wyk; sons Randy (Tracy) and Gary (Marguerite); grandchildren Adalyn & Ella van Wyk, Ian Kinsella and Lisa (Drew) Tigges; sister Ellen (Ernie) Caron; brother Mark; sisters-in-law Hilda Fletcher and Pauline Kinsella; as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was predeceased by his son Thomas; parents Thomas and Aaljte (Olive); brother Jack; infant sister Ellen; brothers-in-law John, Dale and Allen Fletcher; and sisters-in-law Gwen Fletcher and Yvette Kinsella.

A memorial service to celebrate Terry’s life will be held on Friday, March 29th, 2019 at 2p.m. at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40 Street S.E., Calgary, AB). 2. Gary F Marasco & Jannine Murdoch

    Dear Shirley and Family,
On behalf of the Elks Crib Club, our deepest condolences. Terry was a fixture at the Club for almost 30-years. One could always count on a smile and a friendly jab from Terry. He was a good card player whose skills were only surpassed by his gentle nature and kindness. We miss him.
On a personal note, dinner on Thursdays hasn’t been quite the same since Terry & Shirley had to leave the Club – “beer, pie or both” decisions aren’t as fun to make without Terry to share it with.
    Jannine & Gary
