KINLEY, Margaret May

December 27, 1929 – Lacombe, Alberta
March 9, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our much beloved mother, Margaret May Kinley. Mom passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the age of 86 at Rocky View General Hospital with her family by her side.

Mom was born in Lacombe, AB on December 27, 1929 where she grew up on the Saunders family farm surrounded by her five brothers and two sisters. Mom was married to Harlin Kinley, also of Lacombe and they were together for twenty-five years.

Family was very important to Mom and she was very proud of and close to her family, as we were of her. Margaret was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, best friend, community volunteer and devoted church member. Mom left her mark in the communities she lived in; Lacombe, Indus and Calgary while caring for family and friends. She will be missed by all that knew her. Good-bye Mom –“Always Loved Never to Be Forgotten”

Family has always been Mom’s focus; she is survived by her three sons and their wives, Douglas Harlin (Jackie) of Calgary, Ricky Lee (Jo-Anne) of Rimbey and David Thomas (Shelley) of Indus; her five grandsons, Tyler (Megan), Devin (Nicole), Logan, Mason and Regan; her three granddaughters, Brandi, Lacey and Loni; and her two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Blake. Mom was predeceased by her foster daughter Linda Pringle (Dave) of Vancouver Island and two grandsons, Jesse Kinley and Ryan Pringle.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at RED DEER LAKE UNITED CHURCH (West on Highway #22X past Spruce Meadows, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 1:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Margaret’s name may be made to a local food bank of donor’s choice. Family would appreciate any memories or stories that you have of Margaret, to share with them at celebrate-marg@conceptgroup.ca

In living memory of Margaret Kinley, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: 403-256-9575

  2. Margaret definitely left her mark on this condo complex community – Fish Creek Ridge II – on Midridge Drive in Midnapore. She had a lot of heart and concern for others and we appreciated her wisdom, gentle Spirit and laughter. Her love of family was very evident. I will be away next Wednesday when you are gathering at Red Deer Lake United to celebrate her life. She surely embraced the amalgamation of the Midlands and Red Deer Lake congregations. I know you, her family, will be enveloped in God’s love and great caring there particularly on that day. God bless each of you. Margaret has set a great example for you to follow. May your special memories of her help sustain you through this time of loss. Such a loving, bright-shining Spirit will have a long afterglow.

    Dear Family of Margaret,
You are in my heart as we mourn the passing of your dear one, Margaret.
I only met her a few years ago when Midlands Church amalgamated with RDLUC. However, once i had been introduced to Margaret, I never entered a room with her that she did not seek me out and want to know how I was doing. I will always remember her for her kind and caring nature.

We knew Margaret for almost 35 years, when she started attending Midlands United Church. We found her to be a very kind and loving lady and we enjoyed being on a number of committees with her. When visiting Marg you were always made welcome and she loved to hear what was happening in your life and telling us what was happening in hers. She loved all her family and was very proud of them. We send our deepest sympathy to Doug, David,Ricky and all the families.

Marg was my friend, my second mom, and held a special place in both of our hearts. When our twin boys were just babies, we had no family here and I so enjoyed Marg’s visits to my kitchen of chaos. We’d have coffee and cookies and swap stories. Her deep voice was calming and her laughter was contagious. The kindness in her heart shone through her eyes. Her faith was strong and she inspired me…I’m sure she inspired many. And you “kids”…she was so proud of you and so grateful to you. She loved her family well and she knew she was well-loved in return. No regrets. Heartfelt sympathies to you all and prayers for peace, comfort, and strength.

Margaret was a member of our Bible Study group, and that is how we got to know her. Her faith was strong and she always strove to be a living example of that faith. When she contributed a thought or a question in the group, her words were sincere as well as wise. Our heartfelt condolences go to Margaret’s family on their loss. She is a lady who will be much missed. May you all be comforted in the knowledge that she suffers no more and is now in the arms of God.

Do you recall that old hymn: “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”? It consequently applies to Marg as well. I think it was her sincerity in times of concern that made her so genuine. She was never too busy to listen. I am sure her grandchildren would attest to that. We may have moved to B.C., but our old friendships are still carried in our heart, and Marg has a very special place among them.
There’s an important message that applies to Marg: “Safe In The Arms Of Jesus”. She surely is. With love,
