KINDARJI, Rose

KINDARJI, Rose
December 24, 1923 – Sweida, Syria
April 29, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Rose Kindarji of Calgary, passed away on April 29, 2019 at the age of 95 years.

Rose was born in Sweida, Syria, on December 24, 1923. She lived in Beirut, Lebanon most of her life until her immigration to Canada in 1989 to be with her family. Although she arrived in Canada at a late stage in her life she adapted very well to the ways and culture of her new adoptive country and took pride in calling herself Canadian. Rose was an accomplished homemaker who was a master at providing her family with the best of everything within a very well maintained budget. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, crocheting and painting. She painted on material and glass and adorned all our homes with her creations.

Rose is lovingly and fondly remembered by her daughters, Laurice Mussallam and Alice Hajj; her son, George Kindarji (Roxane Sabbagh); her grandchildren, Mark Mussell (Katie Nahas), Ian Mussallam (Lara Wehbe), Ghaiss Hajj (Melissa Hauzer), Dany Hajj (Wendy Dykes), Elia Hajj, (Amanda Hajj), Andrea Kindarji, as well as ten great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Harout and sisters, Alice and Lucy and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Anwar Kindarji, her daughter Mary Kindarji and her granddaughter, Rania Hajj.

Rose was a very loving, giving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who spared no effort in the care and comfort of her family. Rose, our matriarch, our fort of strength, will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Funeral Services will be held at Varsity Acres Presbyterian Church (4612 Varsity Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, May 03, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com. The family would like to thank their Family and Friends as well as the Bethany Care Centre. 3. Dear Laurice, it was with sadness I read of the passing of your mother, Rose. This is a sad time for you and your family and I hope knowing that Hugh and I are thinking of you in your time of grief, will help get you through this devastating loss. I remember your Mom well, attending Westminster and selling her bead necklaces and bracelets at the annual Christmas Bazaar to raise funds for our Church. May you be comforted in that she had a long life and had her family living close to her. You were a good daughter and I know how much you loved her. God Bless You, Laurice.

Hugh and Morag Erskine (currently on vacation in Arizona). I will be in touch when I get home.

  4. Dear Laurice & family,
My thoughts & prayers have been with you these past few months. I remember so well Mabel & I being overly fed by your dear Mom & Mary so many times. We had good visits. She amazed me in her ability to adjust to a new country @ her age. She was a widow for many years; but had such a supportive family to be with her. Alf & I have just returned home. I would like to share that lunch some time. My condolances to you all.

Dear Aunt Rose, may your soul Rest In Peace in Heaven. Only the most joyous memories are ones I can remember with you. I remember when she visited us in Los Angeles how impressed we were with her amazing cooking and beautiful personality. How she would call everybody “Janik”, which means “Dear” in Armenian. She will be missed dearly from her Los Angeles family.

We send our deepest condolences to the Kindarji family, especially Laurice, Alice and George from the Khalpourchian family in Los Angeles.

    Dear Alice, George, and Laurice,
My family and I are deeply sorry for the loss of your mother, my aunt Rose. She was a wonderful woman loved by many. Unfortunately, we met Rose in the late stages of her life. Even so, we fell in love with her kind, loving, and intelligent personality. One memory that has stuck with me all these years was when she visited us many years ago in Los Angeles. She would receive love letters from her husband back in Canada and it was very sweet how strong their love was at such a late age. I am very proud to have been named after her by my grandmother. May her soul Rest In Peace and may God comfort you all at this difficult time.
