KHAMVONGSA, Chansamone (Mone)

May 19, 1961 – Savannakhet, Laos

April 20, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Chansamone ‘Mone’ Khamvongsa, 56 years old, of Calgary/Chestermere, Alberta, had peacefully and painlessly passed away after his toughest battle with cancer on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Chinook Care Centre and Hospice.

Mone was born in Savannakhet, Laos, son of Chantay Khamvongsa (Father) and Chanthala ‘Camphu’ Khamvongsa (Mother). Along with the rest of his siblings, together they fled to Canada and gained refugee status in Edmonton, Alberta on June 30, 1982 after the Vietnam War. Mone was a very tough and strong hearted man who loved his family more than his own words could describe, and he always showed it through his actions. He constantly worked long and hard nights at Cargill Inc. for over twenty-three years until he was forced to take a leave of absence due to his diagnosis. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and great friends on his free time. The company of others had always given him warm comfort and joy. Mone was very loving and proud towards his eldest daughter, Dianna Khamvongsa, 22, second eldest daughter, Salina Khamvongsa, 19, son, Eric Khamvongsa, 6, and youngest daughter, Acelyn Khamvongsa, 5, along with his beloved wife Physamay “May” (Sanavongxay) Khamvongsa.

He is also survived by his eldest sister, Kim Manachineda of Atlanta, GA; his three brothers Jason Khamvongsa, Rick Khamvongsa, and Ed Khamvongsa; his four sisters Susan Ketsadachan, Joyce Chang, Bonnie Khamvongsa, and Maria Khamvongsa of Toronto, ON; as well as his nine nephews, six nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A special thank you to the Chinook Care Centre and Hospice for their loving care and support. Also, another thank you to McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes for the help and preparation of the arrangements.
