Oskar Kers, beloved husband of Elizabeth Kers (nee Solta) of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the age of 83 years.

Oskar immigrated to Canada December 1968 with his wife and two children looking for a better life. He was a hard working, dedicated family man, often working two jobs at a time and furthering his education. After which he opened his own dental lab and denture clinic where he worked till his retirement.
Family, good food (home made sljivovica) and traveling the world was his other passions.

Besides his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Oskar is survived by two children, Dr. Albert and Dajana Kers and Irena and Ivan Damjanovic; five grandchildren, Mario, Tony and Anna (David Rendulic) Damjanovic, Kristina and Anthony Kers; nephew Zeljko and Marija Kers and their family all of Calgary. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Rosalia Kersch of Germany and numerous nieces and nephews in Calgary, Germany and Croatia. He was predeceased by his parents Matija and Marija, and two brothers, Albert and Eduard.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Marija Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive S.E.) on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. I was so sorry to find out that Oskar had passed on. He was so kind. I remember the slivovitz he’d give me in winter when I brought his mail. I remember the sauerkraut and sausage that he offered me. He made my day!!! I’m very glad I got to know him.
