KERBER, Reinhard Herbert “Reini”

April 23, 1937 – Danzig, Poland
November 22, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Reinhard “Reini” Kerber. Reinhard passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at the Foothills Medical Centre after a short battle with cancer.

Reinhard started his life in Danzig, Poland, living on a farm with his parents and two older brothers, Gunter & Fred. Following World War II, the family immigrated to Canada in early 1951, making their way across the country and finally settling in Calgary, AB. Reinhard applied to SAIT where he received his trade ticket as a Sheet Metal Worker. During his apprenticeship he was able to cinch a job with Conn Sheet Metal which then became Conn & Kerber and ultimately Kerber Sheet Metal. Reinhard was very proud of this accomplishment as a business owner in his professional life. In the industry Reinhard established many lifelong friendships that he cherished every day. He had a very active recreational life, travelling throughout the world, and owning a cabin at Mara Lake on the Shuswap for thirty years where he established his “cabin family”. Here he boated to his hearts’ content, put his feet up with a rum and coke, played many rounds of golf, and showcased his planning and construction skills. A “gentle giant”, Reinhard was warm, compassionate and kind to all and will be dearly missed.

Reinhard is survived by his wife Rosemarie; his brother Fred (Marie); his first wife Sieglinde; daughters Kathy (Steve), Christine, and Jillian; and son Roger (Susan). He is also survived by seven grandchildren Emily (Thersh), Brock, Brody, Sierra, Dakota, Roshan and Rehana.

He was predeceased by his brother Gunter Kerber; and parents George and Charlotte Kerber.

A Celebration of Reinhard’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W., Calgary, AB), on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Please feel free to dress casually and wear bright colours. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Reini Kerber, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

  4. Ron and Pat Landry

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Rose and Reini’s families. Reini has been a special Arch Villa family friend ever since we first met in the 70’s at our summer paradise on Mara Lake. Our special friendship with this kind and gentle man has continued ever since. He always helped our Arch Villa group with every project or activity throughout our 33 year history of ownership with this humble man. We will surely miss his friendly smile and great company each and every summer going forward. Rest in peace friend! Love Ron, Pat and Ryan.
