KENNEDY, Lyle Hanson

July 2, 1937 – Regina, Saskatchewan
June 11, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Lyle Hanson Kennedy, beloved husband of Constance Kennedy (nee Hammill) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the age of 80 years.

Lyle attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he studied civil engineering. He then began a dynamic career in the engineering and oilfield sector, which spanned over twenty years. He worked for Flint Engineering and Construction for fourteen years (1971-1985) where he took on many responsibilities from being an estimator, to project manager, to project superintendent on numerous oil field construction projects, which included administering budgets for sales, capital, overhead, salaries and benefits. He also managed staff over five divisions.

After leaving Flint, Lyle remained in the oilfield sector from 1985-1992, working for Emerald Oilfield (Compressor Installations), Alberta Gas Ethylene (upgrading of facilities), Pillar Oilfield Project (Maryanna Lake and Opinac Exploration Gas Plant), Ulster Petroleum, North American Road, Pacific Petroleum (Gordondale Gas Plant), Tartan Energy Services (Nova Nordegg Compressor Station), Esso Resources (Judy Creek) and Shell Canada (Caroline Gas Plant). Working for such influential companies, Lyle primarily retained his roles as an inspector, estimator and superintendent.

Lyle had many interests over the years that included gardening, hiking, dinner theatre and being a community volunteer. Standing hard and fast to his beliefs was his trademark, and he certainly left an impression with those who met with him. Two trips to Hawaii were top on his list of his favourite destination; he has seen much of Canada on his extensive field work involving his profession and family life. Lyle enjoyed many sports from curling, hockey, fishing, skiing, football and everything in between. While he enjoyed all sports, he cheered the loudest for the Calgary Flames and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Lyle and Constance celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in 2017. They were married in Lajord, Saskatchewan on October 7, 1967. Besides his loving wife Constance, Lyle is survived by his son Gregory; brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Randi; sister Shirley; nieces and nephews, Erin, Sarah, Jane, Doug and Carmen; and extended family. He was predeceased by both his parents Norman and Opal Hanson.

A Private Celebration of Lyle’s Life is being held at a later date with his family. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Special thank you to the dedicated staff at Father Lacombe Care Centre, who provided great care to Lyle and support to the family at the time of his passing.
