KELLY, Valerie Jane

August 5, 1948 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
July 18, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Jane, beloved wife of Russell Jaremicki of Calgary, AB, passed away on July 18, 2018 at the age of 69 years.

Jane was born on August 5, 1948 to loving parents and was the oldest (and she’d say wisest) of six siblings. The Anderson family moved to Calgary in 1962. Jane was married in 1968 and welcomed two sons into her family. She later met Russell in 1992, whom she would laugh with and love for the rest of her years.

Jane found her calling working as part of the administrative team in schools across Calgary, becoming a part of the fabric of each school and offering students unconditional support, love and a safe lap to sit in. Jane loved to travel with family and friends, and enjoyed spending time at her properties in BC and Arizona.

Jane will be loved and missed by her husband Russell; sons Dennis and Jason; her daughter-in-law Laurel; beloved grandchildren Samantha, Kailey, Cade and Caitlynn; her siblings and their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane was pre-deceased by her parents, Harold and Vera Anderson.

Her family and friends will forever remember and love her for her quick wit, strength of character and dedication to helping others, be they family, friends, or the children of her schools.

Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Rosedale Hospice, (403) 284 – 5195.

  4. Alessandra Predolin :

I had the privilege of working with Jane when she was the secretary at Rosedale School. Jane loved people and they loved her: parents, teachers, children, especially children. She knew ALL their names, their siblings, parents, allergies, likes and dislikes. She ran the office (and the whole school) like a well run Swiss time piece and enjoyed herself immensely while doing so. Not only did she do all of her required work but she also volunteered her time to raise funds through pizza days, selling chocolates, poinsettias and other activities. I found an ally when I arrived in 2008 and together we raised a lot of money especially with our monthly grocery cards. Of course, we spent the money on the kids: new computers, school supplies, toys for recess, hampers for needy families. After the Slave Lake fire she “adopted” a homeless family and organized literally truckloads of essentials for her. She adopted many kids and families through the years driving them around, babysitting, helping them with school: whatever was needed to make them secure. I will ALWAYS remember our shopping to make Christmas baskets for families trying to see who could get the best deal on the desired items. She always did! Jane had a huge heart and she was much beloved. I’m so glad she had several years of well deserved retirement. RIP dearest Jane: you will be remembered, you will be missed. Hugs Alessandra

I extend my deepest condolences to Jane’s family. I came to know Jane through our work together in school, when she was the administrative assistant and I was the resource coordinator. Jane always accepted people for who they were – she listened, understood and then responded without hesitation, oftentimes inviting others to join her in the experience. She was very convincing and inspiring!
Jane loved people; she thrived in building and contributing to community wherever she put down roots. Jane never forgot people. And those whose lives she touched will not forget her.

I am a teacher and worked with Jane at Rosedale School many years ago. I only learned of her passing today and was very sad to hear. Jane had the best one liners and it was a guarantee you would exchange witty banter with her when stopping by the school office!
My deepest sympathy to the family.
    RIP Jane.
